We're taking our niece and nephew to the World, and I want to surprise her with a trip to BBB. In trying to save a little money, I wanted to get her dress ahead of time, but I'm not having much luck in finding her size. She's a little on the chunkier size and is wearing 12-14 size children's clothes. The biggest size dress that I've been able to find is a 10 and that's nowhere close to what she needs. Does anyone here have any idea of where I could find a dress to fit her? She has her heart set on being Cinderella and I really don't want to disappoint her. Also, if there's another board that may be more helpful to post this on, please let me know. Thanks!

That is so thoughtful of you - what a wonderful surprise for your niece! I don't have suggestions about where to buy one, but if you have time before your trip maybe you (or someone you know that sews) could make one? I know I've seen patterns for adult sizes, so that's a thought.

Maybe try posting on the Creative Community Board here and see if anyone has suggestions. Being a plus size adult is not easy, being a plus size child is even trickier. Good luck!

You can bring your own dress to BBB as well. You might want to contact someone on etsy and have a dress custom made for her measurements. That way, it wouldn't be overly long on her, but it would still make it around her middle comfortably.

There are several people on etsy who custom make princess dresses, including Cinderella. They're usually nicer than the ones that are sold in the BBD and a LOT more comfortable (you can get a dress that won't be hot and itchy in Florida heat), and you can get the dress custom made for your niece.

Have fun; I bet she'll have a really good time!

I also have a niece who is plus size and it is such a pain even to buy something big because she is still the same height as a child her age so it is too long. I would see if you can get one made that would be awesome.

Somewhere (maybe the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board) there is a thread about the BBB. The ladies there recommend buying the dresses from someone named Mrs. B (or something similar) on e-bay. I bought my daughter's dress from here a few years ago and I believe it was a 12. I'd check with her before making a dress because her prices were very reasonable.

My DD12 wears an adult plus size up top and a regular adult size on the bottom but she is short.

The last time she wanted to be a Disney princess I found a costume on buycostume.com and took it to a seamstress I know who altered it to fit her. It was less than 20.00 for the alterations and she was thrilled.

If you don't want to go that route, I agree with others about finding someone on Etsy to make one for you.

in a similar boat- just ordered this cinderella costume

It is preteen and looks like it would be short on a preteen, so a younger girl it might come to her ankles. I was gonna alter the neckline a little if it was too revealing (add a panel or cinch it up a little)

If you enter "35clear" you'll get 35% off.
I had a code for 50% off, but I can't remember what it was. try "50clear"

If you don't like this one, try ordering a woman's small on amazon. I found one that will be my back up if this one doesn't work.

I second the suggestion to look on Etsy. There are some beautiful dresses and some are even reasonably priced.

I found a shop on Etsy that made affordable satin Princess dresses styled after the Disney Princess's for about $25. She made them from our measurements. Her name on Etsy is Tootietots. We picked up a satin dress styled after Ariel's pink dress.

She does have a Cinderella one in the shop for $24 right now, though.
