It's rumored that CM's have been notified that for the 2007 Holidays, Cinderella Castle will be transformed by adding hundreds of lights to its exterior. The installation of the lights is scheduled to begin in mid-September and will be completed sometimes in early to mid-November, just in time for the first MVMCP. Unfortunately, there will be the presence of the "crane" near the castle for the installation of the lights and other effects. I believe that Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland Paris usually has similiar effects added for the Christmas season.

Wow, that would be really cool to see, nothing more romantic than walking down Main Street bundled up with your loved one sipping cocoa and to top it all off a lighted Cindy's Castle, sounds great if it happens.

As a lover of Christmas lights, I'd be quite happy to have Cindy's castle draped in a few million lights. :)

That explains the Holiday surcharge at the restaurants . Have to pay the electric bill someway.

I would love to see the castle transformed like that. I've never been down to WDW to see any of the decorations for Christmas...maybe this is the year!

If you watch the WDW shows on Travel/Discovery channels there is a segment where they are interviewing one of the imagineers and you can see a model of the castle with the effect in the background. It looks great.

Speaking of Christmas lights, when in January are they taken down? Anyone know?

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at Disney/MGM Studios is scheduled to end on January 6, 2008. My educated guess would be that the lights would begin to come down shortly after this date.

The Christmas decorations are definately worth the trip, of course the downside are the HUGE crowds!

If you have the luxury of visiting in December before the schools let out for Christmas, you can see the decorations without the huge crowds!

I think the decorations usually come down at the end of the first weekend after the first Wednesday or Thursday in January, BTW. So if New Year's Day was on a Friday or Saturday, the decorations might not come down until after the second weekend in January, but usually it would be after the first weekend, to the best of my recollection from the few times I have been there that time of year. Hope this makes sense!

Over our many, many Christmas visits around the holidays, we have noticed that the date of the lights coming down has varied over the years. Anywhere from the 2nd to the 9th of January.

I'll be there Nov 3rd-10! I would love to see this!
My DH drives for UPS so vacations to WDW any closer to Christmas is impossible...at least for the next 18 years....

This year we get there the day after the Halloween party and leave 2 days before the Christmas party. :sad2:

Will the lights be up the week of Thanksgiving? We're going then and I'm so excited about seeing the World decorated for Christmas for the first time!
