I'm a first timer to WDW and we'll be traveling with my 7 and 4-year old daughters. The youngest is WAY into everything princesses so she's of course over the moon to have lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table in her castle.
My 7-year-old isn't as in to princesses (she's more of a Merida girl ;)).

My question is, what do girls usually wear to this lunch?

My girls are picky and it really depends on their moods as to whether or not they'll want to wear the big fancy princess costume or just a cute Minnie shirt on the day of our dining experience. Will my daughters feel out of place if they aren't wearing big fancy dresses?

We are on a budget, so I don't want to blow $100 on dresses they may or may not wear. Can I bring along the more simple dresses we already have, or are all the girls in the fancy Disney Store dresses?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I never dressed our girls in the princess dresses when we dined there, instead they wear either their tiaras or their Mickey or Minnie headband ears. They never felt out of place either, they were just happy to be eating in the castle and seeing their favorite princesses.

I think you will find the dresses of little girls a varied lot. Some will come dressed up from BBB and others will be in there regular park clothes. I know my daughter loved dressing up. She wore a Snow White costume that maybe cost us $10 after Halloween. There is no reason to splurge for fancy, expensive dresses. They can wear whatever they like and fit right in.

We were just there in July and there was a wide range of outfits. My niece is like your youngest-she had on the full Rapunzel outfit down to shoes and hair! Other girls just had regular outfits with no sign on a princess on them. However your girls want to be will be will fine!

We ate breakfast at CRT last week. My DD6 loves princesses, but is a bit shy and does not like to attract too much attention to herself. She would never wear a princess outfit in the parks or restaurants at Disney. We just wore what we were wearing in the park for the day - shorts and t-shirts - and we did not feel out of place. There were many young princesses dressed up in costumes and many had come from BBB since our reservation was at 10:00am. My DD6 and I enjoyed looking at all the outfits, but she never felt left out or uncomfortable because we were not dressed up. Your girls should wear what they are comfortable in. They should not feel out of place if they are not in costume or an elaborate dress.

My DD (7) she wears homemade tutu's and leggings with a Disney themed shirt. Very Rarely will she wear a princess dress.

My DD (7) is a Princess nut and has been since she was 2. From the time she was 2, she has tended to alternate between wanted to wear the full blown Princess dress to CRT, or just wanting to wear a regular dress. It is always a dress though. You will see a lot of girls full out princessed up, but there will be those in regular clothes too. You will also see a variety of Princess dresses- some of the Walmart and Target type, and some from the full blown Disney store or Disney parks type. I kind of depends on your girls. My girl is a kid who does not care what anyone else wears or thinks- she wears what she wants and likes. If she doesn't feel like wearing a Princess dress that day, it doesn't bother her that a bunch of other girls are wearing them. If you think they will be bothered to see a bunch of other girls dressed up when they aren't, you might want to look into some sort of costume. I will say that we have noticed that DD gets more attention from the CMs and characters when she elects a costume. It doesn't have to be from the Disney Store or Parks- Buycostumes.com is having a 25% off sale today and they usually have a few versions of the dresses with some cute ones in the $20-30 range.

I wouldn't say there is a dress code for girls there. You will see princess dresses, you will see mickey/minnie/princess tees, you will see regular old street clothes, you will see regular old sun dresses. Ours wore dresses, but I wouldn't say it was a given.

My girls wear their princess dresses not only at CRT but all over the parks. I think it's whatever your child chooses. I agree with PPs in that you can get inexpensive gowns, especially right after
Halloween in places like Target & Wal-Mart. I might bring a dress each just in case. Everyone really gets into the princess mode when there!
