Just wondering what the cigarette prices are on a Eastern Caribbean Cruise?
Just wondering what the cigarette prices are on a Eastern Caribbean Cruise?
I found the best price in St.Thomas by shopping around this past June was a case of 1000 cigs 5 cartons for $114

St Maarten was $18 for a carton. But can only get 1 per person there.
Thanks for the info....I appreciate the reply. A carton in NY is about $90.

How do New Yorkers afford to smoke??

has anybody bought more than allowed? How much do you have to pay at customs?
Unless you buy them on the ship, Customs doesn't know how many you bought.
I can't ever find my brand, but I have friends who have gotten theirs, and they just pack them in their suitcases.
And the allowance is so many per person, so if you have a larger group, you're allowed more.

You have to declare what you buy. And if you get pulled to the side you can be fined. They usually ask how much liquor and cigarettes you have purchased.
Going through customs this past October, the agent looked half asleep. He asked us mid-yawn, if we'd purchased any alcohol and we said no (we hadn't) and he just waved us on. I can't imagine any reason they'd pull someone aside and hunt through their bags for too many cigarettes.

I would not take a chance when it comes to Customs.....If I wanted to gamble I would have chosen another cruise ship which has a casino. I do not want to play roulette with customs (maybe some pass you by, but others may go through every inch of your luggage) , since they can have you detained for any reason. Anybody who wants to purchase anything with restrictions while on board a cruise ship should just stick to the regulations and not worry about going through customs after having an awesome trip...JMO![]()
What I had said in my earlier post was that IF YOU BUY THEM ONBOARD, they will be reported to Customs, and YES, you'd have to claim them.
I was talking about buying them in port and taking them back to your room and putting them in a suitcase.
But you're right....they could search at any time for any reason. It just hasn't ever happened to us, and we've traveled extensively for years & years.
