I have a $1000 limit so I could take out like $700 to be safe right?

Not like I would need that much every day lol

I just dont want too much cash in my wallet each time

but I dont really like travel checks (not sure why though) just dont want to have to carry around my ID etc

Your daily limit might be $1,000 but the transaction limit on the ATM miight be $400 or $500. You might need to do it in two tranaction with fees charged on both transactions

I used my Debit card in WDW several times, It worked everywhere. The Debit system is working better in some locations. I go to the states all the time and I used it in a Fashion Bug of all places and the transaction went through. :earseek: The Cirrus logo ( like MC) is internationally known, every bank machine is going to have that or the interact logo on it that I have seen. Dont worry you will be able to access your money. :wizard:

Just to clarify,
I can use my ATM card in Florida to withdrawal US$, BUT I will be charged fees by both banks (my home bank, TD , and the US ATM machine bank).
Plus it is best to withdrawal a large amount since I will be charged transaction fees with each withdrawal???

Can someone please confirm ?
Also, how much $ is usually charged by each bank per transaction?
Thank you
Suzy

When you take the money out the machine should tell you what their fee is before you hit OK. For example you take out $500.00. On the receipt it will say that you withdrew $503.00 if the fee is $3.00. Depending on what type of account you have here you will be charged at the end of the month with your service charges. This can be another $3.00.

You have to decide what you want to spend your money on. Travellers cheques cost money unless you are a CAA member or bank staff. At WDW you don't need to show ID to cash them. Stores offsite vary from store to store.

Hope this helps.

It was just at the end of May we used Debit at the outlet stores at BELZ and the one at the Florida Premium outlet mall. We used it at the Nike outlet at 3 different locations also and at DTD. Now TD has a system setup with over 2000 US vendors for interac purchases so I am not to sure if it is with all bank cards or not but I would imagine so.

Charles is right - he can use his TD debit card at some stores. TD has changed their systems to allow this.

CIBC, however does not work at almost all stores in the US, yet.

We used to live in the US and we maintained out Canadian CIBC account.

The problem is that the US "debit" system is a check card system. It kind of works like a VISA card, but the money comes right out of your checking account (like debit) The transaction is handled differently whereby the card is swipped by the cashier, it generates a paper receipt that you sign and no PIN is inputted. If you hand them your card without the Visa or MC logo they will think you are nuts and say that they cannot accept your card.

Some places like Walmart, Target, etc. have the machines that you do it yourself, but the one problem is that it does not have the step whereby you have to indicate "chequing" or "savings" and therefore your transaction will be denied. TD has eliminated this (I'm guessing) so their debit cards will now work at places that have their own machines that you swipe.

To the OP - as far as using CIBC at ATM's I only had a problem once. It was a very small independent bank in Georgia. Almost all ATM's at malls, Disney, etc. are set up to work. We had a 1K limit and I could get $700.USD at a time out of the ATM per day.
