Ciao Mickey, This is NOT Disney. The real Europe visited...8/16 - Day 9.11 & 9.12

Pity about only having an hour in St Moritz. But I think you put your hour to good use.....love the chocolate shopping!!!

The train ride and the scenery is definitely the star. I have to admit that I have always thought that the Swiss mountains are too postcard perfect. I much rather the ruggedness of the (Canadian) Rocky Mountains. Still, Switzerland is pretty; and clean.
it was the only thing we wanted to buy in Switzerland. LOL
I loved the mountains there because they are postcard perfect. Never saw the Canadian ones but maybe one day.

So pretty. Did anyone in the group actually buy anything from those crazy expensive designer stores?
Nope. Just chocolate.

Caught up again. The pictures are wonderful. I may get there some day.

Maybe the parking space was for expectant women. I know there are some spots reserved around here for that purpose in one shopping center.
:thumbsup2 I have to catch up on everyone's again. Thank you. I hope you do.
:confused3 Maybe.

I love these beautiful photos, mmmm chocolate.
Thank you. The chocolate was so good.

This is such an interesting read for me. Love all the photos and your excitement. But next time you plan such a trip, try to go to St. Moritz in the winter - it is much more beautiful in the snow. ;)
I am sure and I would love to see it in the winter. One day I will for sure.

Yip, there are parking spaces just for women. We have them here too. They mainly are put there as there are many women who do not feel safe in a parking garage as some parts are usually not very well lit. So they have put in spaces for women close to exits to the shops.
I think it is a great idea.

Had to :lmao: when you all went chocolate shopping. Good chocolate is so common here, so this took me kind of by surprise. :lmao:
Good chocolate is not so common here. :rotfl: I wanted real Swiss Chocolate and I had plenty. :lmao:

And 1 hour is definitely too short to visit a place like St. Moritz. Next time, just rent a car and stay as long as you want to. Driving is pretty easy here too. ;)
or just take a cab from airport there. :lmao: Driving scares me over there.

It's too bad you didn't have more time in St. Moritz. Nice pics of you all with the picture on the wall (where was Vinnie?).

Those are some high end shops that I would have skipped myself. I also would have headed right to the chocolate shop. I'll take a dozen teddy bears please! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

The scenery is just stunning. Can't wait for the train ride back...but watch your head. ;)

yeah more time would have been nice. he didn't want his taken. :confused3

If we had more time I would have gone in and browsed but there really was not much time.
I could use a dozen of those teddy bears now. :lmao:
Will we be taking the train back????

Wow Scott - St. Moritz is a gorgeous town. What beautiful scenery and having an indoor escalator certainly makes it all so accessible.

I loved the pictures of everyone in the chairs and can only imagine what was in the one you had to censor out. :lmao:

Swiss chocolate! OMG! I bet it was absolutely delicious. Did any make it home?

I love how quaint all the European towns are. I find the older architecture so beautiful.

It was very pretty.
I am going to post it because she put it on her FB page so now it is fair game. LOL. I showed her last night at book club and we were tears.
it really was. I ate them all way too fast. No. I ate the final one son the plane ride home. :lmao:
It is and yes it is. I could easily move there.

Before the update here is the pic I was talking about. I will let you see the problem with it. It was not planned or anything and when I got home I saw how it looked and fell to the floor.

On with the update.

A couple of us bought a few things and we were on our back to Milan. Going back to Milan is not the same as going up the mountain, we were in the bus again. This was an adventure at times too. We were off. Now I didn't find St. Moritz bad like the sign says. LOL.
15727723212_5e7f135578_c.jpg

Saw this beauty up on a hill. Sorry it is dark but hopefully you can make some of it out.
15724243541_ca5e8fcf11_c.jpg

These are cute.

A casino and Lorraine and I missed it. What a shame.

I think a mountain is in there. LOL.
15106751783_0594eb3b2c_c.jpg

Now it was time to head down. This is what the road looked like. It was fun in a bus. LOL.

Here are their construction signs.

I took 3 videos while going down the road. Part 1.

Then we were driving along the road again and saw this bridge.

Con't....

Only an hour stop? That's not long at all. Those really are some pricey stores...Louis Vitton, Valentino, Michael Kors. Where are the outlets? :rotfl:

Con't from previous post

Maybe a little duct tape could help. The colors will blend together. LOL.
15486351240_cd8d8fafaa_c.jpg

Then we passed another lake.

We are getting closer to Milano.
15485272329_2445fe34b4_c.jpg

I think the lake is Lake Como. This all looks familiar now. Not taking any notes is a bad idea. LOL.

A place to stay at the bottom of it.
15672734162_e0efd9b74a_c.jpg

Then I stopped taking pics and we were soon back in Milan. Luckily for us instead of going to the starting place they were letting people off by the train station as stop number 1. We were soon walking back to the hotel.
15671149285_99c48d089a_c.jpg

Here is the hotel we were staying at.
15051778553_8127df0bb3_c.jpg

Now we did go back to the hotel and then freshened p and then went out to eat. I have lost the name of the place and the photos of the food and place. I have no clue what happened to them. I do know we walked quite a bit and went into one place but it was very tight so we left. I did a search on the phone for a place and we walked that way but ended up at another one. After dinner we went back to the hotel and packed as we were moving on the next day. Here are pics of the room.
Closet and drawer space.

And after the photos were taken we went to bed.

Up next,

We catch a train to Venice.

Oops, the two of us were posting at the same time. Oh my gosh! I love the accidental funny picture! Hilarious!

The twisting winding road looks scary as heck to me! I can only imagine what it was like going down the mountain in the bus.

Your room looks really nice and roomy.:thumbsup2

Okay, I'm going to be a good girl and remember this is a FAMILY forum, and not make any comment on the first picture posted. ;)

The scenery is just stunning. Although I think I would have been VERY nervous on the bus with some of those narrow roads.

Almost any hotel that has a jet tub gets an A+ from me. I love those tubs.

:wave2: Vinny (almost forget he was on the trip :lmao:).

Can't wait to get to Venice with you.

lovely photos, looking forward to the ones on the way to Venice :goodvibes

Amazingly, I am all caught up!

Congrats again on all that extra seatbelt, that's so exciting and such a visible sign of all your hard work.

Amazing that you made it up to St. Moritz in a day and back down! Definitely not enough time up there but oh what a gorgeous ride both up and down. It makes me really want to go back. I've not been since right after college and frankly just didn't appreciate it then they way I would now.

Great report so far Scott!

it wasn't a lot of time but it seemed okay I guess. I got my chocolate. :rotfl2:
Definitely no outlets there. :lmao:

yes we were. :rotfl2: the pic cracks me up.
it was interesting.
The room was big for Europe standards.

The scenery is so beautiful, that there is not much to say other than gorgeous.
:thumbsup2 I agree.

:rotfl2: many things come to mind. it cracks me up.
It was scary looking out the window but wait till another tour and we come down Mt. Vesuvius. That one was scary.
:thumbsup2
Yeah I didn't take many pics of us all, mostly scenery.
:thumbsup2

Surprisingly I fell behind. :rotfl2:
Thank you. It still amazes me.
yeah not enough time but the ride up was the star of the trip. I would like to go one time in the winter and snow.
Thanks.

This day was a traveling and touring day. No tours planned just walking around Venice when we get there. But first a morning selfie was needed.

Here is the time we were ready to go.
15485311649_df3bce53c7_c.jpg

We went downstairs and Vinny took care of the bill as I took pics of the lobby. They had plenty of seating areas.

Then we went to the train station and got on. It left right on time and we were on our way to Venice. I took no photos on the way. Not sure why or maybe I didn't upload them and erased them by mistake. Then we were at our destination.
15669259201_10ab69f821_c.jpg

I took a selfie of us.
15485299909_df149a3ce6_c.jpg

We arrived in Venice and grabbed our bags (trains here need a luggage car) and we left the building and went to find the hotel. It was very easy to find as it literally was a 2 minute walk and we did not have to cross the bridge to get to it. I did use tripadvisor and so glad I did. Here is the name of the hotel.
15486371050_7668ab1f87_c.jpg

We all checked in and our rooms were not ready yet so we left the bags and went to look around. Quick peak at the seating area.
15485299689_c269f3d9b4_c.jpg

I think I am going to stop here as the next update has lots of pics from us walking around.

Up next,

Touring Venice and looking for lunch.

The lobby at the hotel where you were checking out is quite lovely and very roomy. I have to say I'm not fond of those red chairs at the new hotel you are checking into.

Great job on the selfies, Scott.

I just love looking at your pictures through Europe. There is just so much visual beauty to see.....architecture, lakes, scenery.

Thanks for sharing.

it was very pretty there. The chairs just went with it all. It was a place to park big butt. :rotfl2: They were comfy though.
Thanks.

Joining in!

What a fun trip! Your pictures are fantastic.

I especially love the Switzerland part because that's where I live. It's interesting to see it through the eyes of a visitor!

Looking forward to more. :thumbsup2
