Churro Waffles- Concierge Only?

Or the cast members were correct in DCL pivoted after they had so much backlash?

I also wonder at what point we shouldn't believe cast members. I've heard multiple accounts that the last sailing that just ended had only 2500 guests on the Destiny. This was reported to them by multiple CMs and servers to several different cruisers on the sailing.

Should we not have believed the CMs when they said that happy hours were going away even though they have gone away fleet wide?

DCL clearly pivoted on this it's pretty telling because they already were selling them from the get-go. I am glad DCL pivoted, but to say that the crew doesn't know what they're talking about is not ok
I would need to see evidence for "clearly pivoted after backlash" as opposed to "didn't have the capacity at launch". Not having all the supplies and all machines up and running for a few weeks after the maiden voyage isn't a crazy idea.

This thread had a pretty adverse reaction due to a rumor that seemingly wasn't true. Plenty of them turn out to be true, but just because a cast member says somethings doesn't mean it's gospel.

Its hard to say what is an isn't rumor. DCL launched several ships with churro waffles from the start. The idea that they suddenly lacked the ability seems a bit suspicious when they were selling them onboard.

DCL pretty much lives in rumors and does not go out of their way to confirm anything. For instance the duck "rumor", DCL could EASILY clarify their stance but shoreside says one thing, the website offers no guidance (though Plan Disney is an official Disney site) and the crew onboard says something else. DCL could often make things easier by being clear and honest but does not.

The rumors about the Happy Hours going away, or live animation being switched to a glorified YouTube video playing turned out to be 100% correct.

If DCL just could not get it together to have churro waffles on the Destiny for the Maiden and following sailing I have concerns that they are expanding too rapidly to find crew that is as capable as the one they launched the Treasure and Wish on.

I don’t believe DCL pivoted at all. There is not real benefit for them to offer only in concierge , they are still selling the rooms very well they don’t need churro waffles to make book those rooms.

I was on that sailing and I believe it was only at 2500. We didn’t have any show matinees and even Marceline was never busy at peak times. Several different CMs reported it at 2500 to me. They said the cruise that starts today is back somewhere in the 3000s though.

I just got off the Destiny, and it was not busy at all. They didn't do a matinee for Hercules, and the first show still had empty seats. Plus the MDR had multiple empty tables (I got a solo table, at a 6 seater)

Concierge is not selling well or DCL would not have allowed Placeholders to be used for a 10% discount on concierge rooms on several upcoming sailings (including into the summer season).

I think DCL is in trouble and anything that could reduce workload (less staff) and they could charge for (like at Edna's) is on the table

Thank you for sharing. This is what I mean by DCL is not doing well. The idea that a new ship, not even a month from the Maiden, is sailing less than 65% full (especially when I have heard the discounts they offered for CMs for it) is really a bad sign. I know early December is not a prime travel time but I did not think DCL would have any issue filling the Destiny during it and I doubt DCL saw this coming either.

I have been waiting for word on the naming of Wish #4 (timeline wise we should have a name before Xmas) and it is has been crickets. I would not be surprised if we dont get a name until mid Jan at the earliest because they want people to focus on the current offerings that are not selling well.

I am truly starting to think about cancelling my 4-night cruise in September and place my bet on getting a really nice discount on a VGT room on a 4-night during that month on the Fantasy. Or possibly getting a 5-night cruise on the Fantasy for around the same price of my current cruise. I am starting to study, log and compare cruises, prices, dates, probability and such. I never imagined that DCL would have a need for such a steady string of discounts to fill the ships. Maybe the uptick in the number of CL rooms to increase profits has backfired?

If you can be flexible with when you sail, I think it is 99.9% likely that discounts or restricted GT rates appear for September (DCL always struggles to fill ships in September).

September is hurricane season. We always sail VGT in September/October.

We are sailing a 5 night on the Fantasy next month VGT for about $500 per night for 2 people.

We got off the Treasure this morning. Cast members were great. They had Churro waffles the morning before castaway. Cast members were telling everyone when they would be available and where they would be located. They were served with syrup, strawberry jam and whipped cream on the side. We took an excursion both eastern ports and they went well. Now to the bad, food quality was terrible across the board. Room service menu has been cut down to a few items and they were poor quality. Chicken tenders are the highlight lol. The beauty and the beast was outstanding. It got a standing ovation. The two main shows we had to get in line 45 mins early. One show was completely full and the other not far from it. Typical characters were out thru out the cruise. It seems Disney has retained high prices but has reduced the quality of a lot of the items.

And tbh? Sometimes Disney actively has cast lie about certain things. Like back when I worked at Disney Stitch's Great Escape had been literally taken apart and the animatronic had been destroyed, but we were still suppose to say it was a seasonal attraction and not permanentlybef closed, despite the fact photos of the destroyed animatronic had been leaked online ages before I started

100% when they changed the kids club ages they give shoreside a phone script that said that for kids was special needs between the ages of 11- 12 that they might be able to do the secure kids club programing on a case by case basis, except once on the ship, they were told no exceptions for anyone.

was on same sailing, agreed with this. Enjoyed the shows, got my churro waffles for first time and was delcious. But all we talked about after the cruise was just how bad the food was ( i have fairly low standrads, I like most frozen pizzas from the store for example). The pool deck food I thought was decent (I really liked the cantina, but the pizza was a gross grease bucket). Majority of the MDR food and the buffet was just not good. It's like no one who cooks the food has heard of seasoning before, was all just bland.

I had the late dining, and couldn't believe all the empty tables. I was convinced it wasnt a full sailing, or close to it. Very rarely it felt crowded. I don't know how many tables the MDR staff usually have to serve, but for mine, they only had to deal with two tables, myself (party of 3) and one other a party of 2. So they took care of us pretty well.

Please reach out to DCL about the quality of the food. I know it is hard to be accurate in the surveys they give at the end of the sailing because of how they tie food rankings to the servers but emailing and letting them know about the poor food quality is important (and if you also hate how they rig the surveys please feel free to mention that as well)

Sailed the Treasure 10/18. Also had late dining. Dining room was full. No empty tables. Our serving team had 4 tables. 18 people total. Service was so slow. Food was delivered cold the first 2 nights. Then got head server involved and problem was solved - she waited our table for us.
