Well then I guess people who are obese(without a medical cause) should be treated the same way as homosexuals by the church...Gluttony is a sin
I was just going to bring up the same thing myself.

At this, I'll have to stop arguing with you, b/c it will be pointless, if these are points you actually believe. I assume you still believe Christians are under the Law, even though Christ fulfilled it by His death on the cross. And you may or may not be Catholic, but if you are, that present obstacles in and of itself that we won't be able to get around in our arguments. I just think we'll have to agree to disagree. Thanks.

I'm not Catholic...but I'm asking WHERE in the Bible you find your basis that Homosexuality is a sin that churches should pick that basis to repeatedly and harshly criticize people, and not criticize people that commit other sins unrepentantly.

Being obese is not necessarily a sign of gluttony even outside of a medical cause. Even so, acknowlegment of sin and asking for forgiveness is the key. Some Christians may struggle with gluttony or any other sin but they realize that they need to ask forgiveness and seek repentance and change from the old nature. That is the difference. The desire to break free of the sin.

Many homosexuals want to not change and repent from their sinful lifestyles because they dont see it as a sin.

Actually I want to change my phrase to *people that overeat*,because I know obese people that eat less them me.It's not always a sign that someone overeats. They may just have a very slow metabolism.

And many folks continue to eat pork and shellfish because they don't see it as a sin. Many folks continue to wear blended fabrics, because they don't see it as a sin. It seems to boil down to some christians don't think anyone that doesn't believe EXACTLY as they do can also be christians.

Yeah, because my phrasing was wrong..One can be an overeater,a glutton and not be obese, whereas someone can have a slow metabolism ,eat nornmal amounts and be obese. I didn't link the phrasing that inicated that all obese people are gluttons.
My point still stands...Gluttony is a sin,and if so,people that engage in it should be trated just like youtreat the homosexual. If not you are picking and choosing which sins you chose to focus on

Being a Christian has nothing to do with what I believe. It is what the Bible says. Your argument about OT law is weak and you lack the biblical understanding for us to have a logical, intelligent debate about it. Hokie has tried to explain about the fulfillment of the law by Jesus. But you cling to that tired argument because it must be in your talking points.

Again, the bible says that we must confess our sins, ask for forgiveness, and repent. we are to turn away from our sinful natures and become new creations in Him. We still will stumble along the way and sin but we seek not to repeat the same sins over and over again because that would indicate that we have not truly repented.

If you live in a sinful lifestyle such as homosexuality you can not be a Christian just like the prostitute that continues to turn tricks after she claims to be a Christian. It doesnt wash.

It doesnt matter what I think, only what HE thinks.

I notice that neither of the "anti-homosexual lifestyle" Christians on these thread are responding to the questions about what makes homosexuality so bad. One stomps off with an "It's pointless to discuss this" attitude and the other one nitpicks a point that someone was trying to make while not responding to the question about why it's okay to pick and choose a lifestyle.

As far as the New Testament goes Paul had plenty of complaints and prohibitions that he set down most especially about women. Does that mean that I am a sinner too?

Also since Jesus obviously remained an observant Jew during his lifetime, shouldn't Christians also be embracing a Jewish lifestyle? How do we know that any present form of Christianity is even acceptable?

Chuck, don't waste your time or effort. Whether they admit to it or not, this particular poster has historically placed different levels of sin to different actions or beliefs. And for some crazy reason, he/she is super sensitive to homosexuality. I'd say that is exactly their particular problem is the whole gay thing.

So unless you agree with them, then you are a sinner pure and simple. And from your icon in your signature, you are definitely a SUPER sinner to Hokiefan.

Then again, Hokie has also condemned folks who don't believe they need to go to church every Sunday, has condemned Catholics, Jews and several other religions as well. It is ONLY his/her way Period.

Amazingly enough, this person has riled up quite a huge number of self identified Christians on this very board.

They're an equal opportunity condemner, but the gay folks are at the top of the hit parade.

Typical. Run out of any logical thing left to say. You resort to the tired and true, attack the poster not the post.

Hokie and I are not the same person.

But we do share many of the same Biblical views.

We threaten you because deep down you know that you are living in sin and when Hokie and I speak against homosexuality you feel convicted and that leads to your defensiveness and ultimately you go on the attack.

I will pray that the Holy Spirit continue to convict you and lead you away from your sinful lifestyle.

ok instead of shellfish and pork, why aren't sins of adultery and divorce condemned with equal vigor along w/homosexuality? I just don't understand why those 'sins' aren't condemned equally.

the only explanation i've ever come up with is that too many of 'the base' have divorced and stepped out. you can win an election w/o the log cabin republicans. ;)

Holy crap, are you for real? :rotfl:

Some other good points...can you be divorced and still be a Christian? Can a Christian marry someone who is divorced and still be a Christian?

Thank goodness it's up to HIM and not some high and mighty people on a message board. :teeth:

God...Iam so mad, At this hokiefan person :earseek:
He is spouting off on another thread about abortion. This "man" and I use the term loosely would actually let his own wife die in EXTREME pain of an eptopic pregnancy rather than have her treated. That is freaky in my book.

Iam from UK and I have NEVER come across this attitude before. Everyone else on these boards is soo nice. Why is this man hookie allowed to come on here and call everyone sinners and murders.
How dare he. I have zero respect for this man, he doesn't even care for his own wifes life enough.
God knows what he would do if his son was gay. The poor kid would be terrified to tell him. What a nasty horrible exuse for a human beig.
And BTW I have NEVER lost my temper on these boards...I come here to talk disney.
BUt no way will I let this Bully carry on without speaking up for aa that is good and decent.

Because 2funny/hokie is absolutely threatened more by homosexuality than by anything else. Simple enough.

I also forgot to mention, please don't pray for me, it's not worth your time. There are millions of people out there that are dying from disease, hunger and war. Pray for them. But not for me.
