Church group monopolizes lobby

I would find it annoying, but it IS a public space. You can't really expect peace and quiet. Now if you were in your room and could hear the singing, then yes I would ask them to quiet down.

That being said, I still think it's rude for groups to be loud and annoying in public places. THEY need to be respectful of others.

While I personally am not very religious, and I think there were likely better places to hold the services, I don't I'd be upset about. I'd think it was a little odd, and a little inconsiderate to other guest who may want to enjoy the lobby area.

this is about where I stand on the issue. I'm not religious, and while a bit odd, I think I could survive. If it really bothered me, I'd probably go somewhere else. Even though they were monopolizing the lobby, I don't think I'd ask a whole group to stop just because I was uncomfortable with what they were doing.

I was going to respond to this thread in a sarcastic way and decided to take a pass. But I do have to be amazed how Christians are treated when they are out in public -- And I'm not even religious. I guess it's OK to be Christian as long as you don't let peple know. Maybe they should all wear a star or something so you can avoid them.

I am a strong Christian myself and I am not treated differently then anyone else

I'm sorry, but the fact that you're Christian doesn't give you the right to be annoying and rude. I try to be understanding of folks and their beliefs, but if a group of people are loud and obnoxious, I don't think we should give them a free pass just because of their affiliations. That applies to cheerleaders, Brazilian tour groups, Christians, school tours and business organizations.

And equating being annoyed with a group of people having a testimonial service at a national park with the Holocaust?

I agree with what you are saying

Oh , I survived-I found it uncomfortable while we were eating.

There WAS an unused Meeting room upstairs-and an unused dining room.

BTW-We were atop a Mountain-fogged in-around 20 miles from civilization-otherwise we would have found other dining options.;)

Possible those spaces were either booked for an event later on or otherwise unavailable? Orrrr...maybe one has to PAY for use of that space and the lobby was free. Maybe they had planned to hold their meeting outside (free) and when they weather turned they had to find other free accomodations?

How long was the service? They sang a little bit, and then sat there and talked. I guess I don't see what's so inappropriate. They didn't beg you to join them, or anything like that.

I have a feeling if it had been a birthday party for a six year old or a group of middle aged women having a night out we never would have heard about it.

Not a big deal as far as I can see.:confused3

Did you mention this to the manager when you complained during your visit?

I'm sure maybe your questions would have been answered if you had spoken to management and some of the issues could have been resolved by having the group behave more quietly.

A lobby is a public space and I just don't see the total problem except for a comfort issue.

Unless they were literally blocking paths, or exits or anything that made for a safety issue...then they really were not doing anything wrong.

If they were paying guests--then yes they could hang out in the lobby.
