Chunkymonkey and Chubbyhubby's F+W Free Dining Fest! 9/26 One more day!

It should still be pretty darn hot when we're there right? If so...then this could definitely be a snack option!

4am?? Craaazy. I wonder if we'll even last that long...Part of me says that since I paid extra for the ticket I should stay till the end to get my moneys worth...but then that would mean missing most of Sunday due to our sleeping in. LOL. I guess we'll just see what happens. I think the key factor would be the weather. Does the race go on rain or shine?

So I thought I would copy what the run disney site has listed regarding the bash.

Disney Villains Hollywood Bash

September 29, 10:30 p.m. – September 30, 2012, 4:00 a.m.
Location: Disney's Hollywood Studios

Runners and Guests can party in the shadow of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ at the Disney Villains Hollywood Bash where you will enjoy Rock 'n' Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ , Star Tours, Muppet*Vision 3D, The Great Movie Ride, and Toy Story Mania!, in addition to DJs and character meet & greets with your favorite Disney Villains.

It is my understanding that rain or shine it will happen. In fact... another quote...
All runDisney races will be held rain or shine, except in the case of lightning. For the Walt Disney World® Lightning Policy, please see the Safety information of the Runners Information page of the event you are interested in.

So lightning could bee a problem. ;) but here is the quote on that...

The Walt Disney World® Resort Lightning Policy

Event operations will shut down when lightning is 10 miles out from the event areas. Event operations will not resume until the lightning is 10 miles out moving away from the event areas. Sports Manager will determine this using the *Flash to Bang Rule* and weather radar. The Sports Manager will consult with Walt Disney World® Resort Management on a course of action to utilize the operational rain plan, delay the event, or cancel the event.

*Flash to Bang Rule* is applied by measuring the time (in seconds) between a visual lightning "Flash" and hearing the resulting "Bang". This time is then divided by a factor of "5" to obtain distance in miles. For example, 50 seconds between "Flash" and "Bang" divided by "5" equals 10 miles.

One thing you will need to consider though... is transportation. You will not be at a host hotel, right? So there will be no transportation.

What I recommend is this...

DHS closes at 6pm that day, so a bus from your hotel to DHS will not be running. I would either go to Epcot or to POR/POFQ.

Epcot is open till 10pm. You could either then walk all the way to DHS from there or to BC/YC and take one of the boats to DHS.

POR/POFQ would mean getting there from another park and then taking one of the event buses to DHS..

The return is what will require a cab. So not tricky... just an added expense.

I personally do not know how long I will last at the VB... After going 10 miles... I may be pretty tapped. I ran a 10k this weekend and when done, I didn't even stop to look at booths at the event. I just wanted to go home. Course, I did run with an injury and was having a hard time walking (yet almost ran the entire thing) so I was a bit uncomfortable. Maybe I wont be in pain when the 10 miler is over.

Thanks Annn for the invaluable info! I didn't even realize DHS closed early that day and that we'd be needing a taxi back. I have never used a taxi from any of the parks before...will we have to arrange one to pick us up at a certain time or will there be taxis already there? I doubt they will be available there that late though, so methinks I will have to arrange one or call one to pick us up. I will probably ask the AoA castmembers when we arrive.

Thanks again and I'm sure you'll do amazing on the race, if we dont' meet up after the race then we'll have to find another time to meet!

I can't believe the 1 month mark is here! In 1 month at this time I should have arrived at AoA! Let's cross our fingers that no hurricanes or other weather advisories will be in play during that time.

In terms of planning, I admit, I have not been ON TOP of planning this time around. There are enough things to distract me going on right now. Not only do I have tendonitis in both my arms (in addition to the radial tunnel, ugh don't get me started) but my old knee injury from high school as flared up and now it's painful to even just walk! I am falling apart! I just hope that I'll be ok when we get to WDW, so I can walk around the parks with no issue. With that said, I've cut out going to the gym, no running, no elliptical, etc, only swimming, with the hope that I can rehab myself before our trip.

Oh and another big distraction, but this one I don't mind at all…I am an Aunt again! :woohoo: Do you remember CT2 from my last TR for my sisters trip? She is one of the Chunkytwins (the youngest to be exact) and she just had a baby girl!! Yup CT2 and her hubby welcomed Eva Amelia on August 18th. She weighted a little less than 6lbs, she's super small yet super cute. Everyone is doing well!

Eva-67.jpg

Here’s me and DH holding her when she was a few hours old!

Eva-46.jpg

Needless to say, we’ve all been very busy fighting over who gets to hold her. In between both sets of grandparents, 4 aunts, and 2 uncles, Eva has been well taken care of.

So...here's my updated schedule so far. Since I didn’t realize DHS closed early on Sat the 29th and there would be no transportation there from our resort (thanks Ann for the info!), we have to change up the plans again. So now there are a few options:

  1. Head to Epcot and have dinner there, fight the crowds of F+W, and then walk to DHS, or take the ferry (have to find out if the ferry runs to DHS from Epcot at this time?)
  2. Head to Epcot, then walk or ferry over to BC/YC/Boardwalk resorts and have dinner there before walking over to DHS.
  3. Head to DTD, have dinner there (maybe WPE?), ferry to POFQ and take event bus from there. (I get to have beignets too!)
  4. Head to DTD, then take ferry to POR, and have dinner at Boatwrights, then take event bus from there.

All of these options sound pretty tempting…but I am not sure what will be the best option. I kind of wanted to catch Illuminations, but I know Epcot will be pretty crowded, and we still have Monday night available to watch it.…anyhoo, I am going to keep this night fairly open but I think maybe I should make a cancellable ADR (i.e. nothing requiring a cc) for one of the restaurants in Epcot or Boardwalk areas…

Oh and another thing, AA decided to change our flights because they had cancelled our original flights. The departing flight hasn't really changed in time, but our return flight has us returning almost an hour earlier. Which kinda sucks because that means we'll have to make it ot an earlier ME time (and the times have usually been so much earlier than our flights), but there is no later flight that day we can change it to. So I've just been checking the AA site each day to see if they added a new flight.

Items in red indicate modified plans.

Soo, what do you think of these new plans and what do you think I should do the evening of the 29th?

Plans look great. I am sorry if I threw a bit of a monkey wrench in your plans. However, if you got to DTD or to Epcot..either way looks like you have your bases covered. As for the return... I think asking at AoA would be a good idea. I am not certain that there will be taxis about after the party.. but who knows, there might be?

AND..... Your niece is ADORABLE!!!!! Congratulations on being an auntie again!!

Thanks Ann! She is quite the cutie. She sleeps all the time now so it's hard to get a pic of her with her eyes open!

NP, it was actually you who made me realize we had to get transportation. I'd feel so silly if I was on the bus line to DHS at AoA....only to realize there is none! Thanks again for the heads up!

I'm so excited, we're going to Disney this month!!!!

1 more day!!! At 7am tomorrow we will (hopefully) be on our flight to MCO! So this will most likely be my last post on the DIS before I'm at WDW! (If anyone else is there please stop and say hi! I love meeting DISers! Wave to Ann and Betsy!)

Sorry, I've been very poor with updating this PTR. It's just been a nutty few weeks and I've honestly not been very good with planning this trip down to a "T" like I usually do. I've never experienced F+W before so a lot of it will be a surprise. I've taken a look at some of the kiosk menus and so I kind of have an idea of what to try but I think I will not look into it further and will not try and print out menus and plan my route through the festival (ok I may print out a kiosk map though). I think it'll be nice to experience something new at WDW and I want to be surprised. I know that there are also some events on Oct 1st for Epcot's 30th anniversary which we may or may not catch.

Oh and here’s purchase I made for this trip. It’s my first point and shoot camera in a while, and I was sooo impressed with my sisters S95 that we used last year, that I just had to get myself the next generation of it:

frontpage-001.jpg

I am hoping that this will make my bag a LOT lighter this time around. I still have a lot of knee and hip pains and this will make it easier to get around.

To date, here are the ADR's I've made and most likely I will not change them:

  • Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner (a first)
  • Tusker House Breakfast (a first)
  • Sanaa Dinner (a first)
  • Crystal Palace Breakfast -OOP (haven't been in ages)
  • 'Ohana Dinner (a must do!)
  • Le Cellier Lunch (decided to keep it afterall, I can’t resist that pretzel bread!)

Here’s our more finalized touring plan
