I will be the first to admit that I am a little bit of a "prude", but I can not be the only person who thinks this is a little over the top.

We were at Chuck E Cheese last night with DS and there was a little girl there (around 2 or 3). The "adults" with her looked kind of young (late teens, maybe early 20's). The female's shirt said "witch" with a "B" instead of the "W", the males shirt said "I Love Sluts". I wanted to pick the girl up and take her home with me.

Are my pregnancy horomones making me irrational or is this sad?? People swear in front of and at their kids all the time, this is not any worse (in fact maybe it's better, she could not read the shirts). I don't know for some reason it really bothered me

Christy:(

Poor little girl...having to grow up in that kind of "environment".

I would have been even more upset because my kids CAN read and would have read those shirts. I probably would have talked to a manager....but I don't know that they could have done anything about it. What a shame.

It bugs me when I see things like that. I have inlaws that use VERY inapropriate words around their kids. What really gets to me is they use the foul language then get upset when one of the kids say it! (BIL also allows them to watch R movies. The kids are 5,6,10)Grrr. Another example of kids raising kids!

That's really sad. It'd be upset too. In our house "stupid" is considered a bad word and DD will call us on it if it slips out accidently. I can't imagine using anything worse than that in her presence. Sometimes there's a lot of muttering go on here;) . I hope this child rises above her current circumstances or I can already predict her future.

I don't even think the shirts should be made, let alone worn by PARENTS in a "Kid-Friendly" atmosphere. I was appalled when I read this post. I don't think it is necessarily a matter of "kids raising kids", more so a matter of morals and decent behavior.

I was young mom, 20 when I had my oldest. (Geez hes 18 now!)

I would NEVER have done anything like that.

When parents (any age) do that you just know how that poor little kid will turn out unless she rises above all of that. The parents obviously think they are being funny, but its the kind of humor that I really do not appreciate.

It could have been just that you were at Chuck E. Cheese. My niece's BDay was there in December and it's been a LONG time since I've seen so many trashy people.
We quit going there 4 years ago when DD#1 went to a friend's BDay party and a boy ran by and grabbed her token bag out of her hand! (it was VERY crowded and we didn't catch him--she got another bag, mom made sure of that!). I also saw kids walking up the skeeball game to put the balls right in the 100 slot, holding the mouth open on the game where you shoot the balls in the animal's mouth, etc. And the parents thought it was so cute! There are MUCH better, family oriented places to go.

That's completely inappropriate, especially in an environment where many kids are likely to be present.

My parents used to make me and my siblings pay a nickel if we ever said "shut up" to each other

That speaks VOLUMES to me of their characters.

Was it appropriate for CEC?? imho, NO WAY!!!

Reminds me of the little saying when you hear someone use foul language: "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?!"

It's funny how the same chain can be so different depending on where it is. We have 2 CEC near here both in very upscale neighborhoods and they are by far the best places like that around. Very clean, well managed and nice children & parents go there. We've been to many parties at other type places where I expected DD to have pink eye the next day because they weren't very clean and the other clientele left a lot to be desired.

We are very fortunate with our local Chuck-E Cheese. It's new, and the employees are generally local college students. They are VERY aggressive about sending "adults" with inappropriate clothing out. NO child gets out without checking the hand stamp (including my 16 year old daughter- the employee said, "hey, she's still a minor and it's my job to check!). No teens under 21 are allowed in without a parent (supposedly its the liquor laws, but I know of no other restaurant with that restriction). My 16 year old and her friends want to go out to Chuck-E tonight (they are a little stange!). I will have to go and sit with them (don't really mind- I just take a good book and sit in the corner). The place is very clean, well kept and will a little loud for me, is basicaly a nice safe place for kids. Will count my blessings after your stories!

I have never been to CEC yet and I have two daughters
It's not our type of place - big money pit
The type of place it is should be no excuse for parents to wear such inappropriate clothes
You never know where you'll see some stupid act by parent though
I don't frequent our local Redners grocery store because I find the children who are shopping with their parents dirty, the adults and pre teen children in there seem to be always cursing and the parent are always yelling at their children etc

That's inapproriate anywhere, much less in a place where there are lots of kids.

My child has outgrown CEC, thank goodness, but the ones we went to were very nice places with a great clientele, unlike the one described in Robin's post. I did go to one that wasn't as NICE in Orlando... :p ... it was kind of tacky.

Knowing me with my READING child I would've mentioned it to management. There are signs that say"no shirt, no shoes", they can make concessions for inappropriate words, too.

Man, the DAY I'd have my man wearing a shirt that said something like that.... it would speak VOLUMES of what kind of woman I was...no WAIT, HER shirt DID!

I am not a prude at all and can be very amused by many things but t-shirts like the above just get me angry.
I was at Great America (Santa Clara) a few years ago, waiting in line for The Edge when we saw a "dude" agead of us with a t-shirt that said "Bury the Bone" and had two cartoon dogs copulating!! While the cartonn was funy I was angry that someone would wear that to an amusement park with tons of little kids.
Indeed it does inform you of the character of people who wear items like that in inappropriate places.
