Day Two Part One
Thursday dawned cloudy and gray. The weather channel showed a huge line of shower inching its way to WDW so we packed our big ponchos into Chucks man purse and headed for a morning at DHS. It was still pretty warm out, but not quite as warm. Chuck was crazy to ride Rockin Rollercoaster and we both wanted a turn at TSM.
See the gray and cloudy.
I made a quick trip over to Guest Services to get a new Birthday Button. The MK lady put my given name (Melinda) so I wanted one that said Lynn. Nobody at WDW calls me Melinda!! Anyway, once we were through the turnstiles, we stop at the turn towards Tower of Terror for the little show. Im glad they do a show now. Somehow, its more exciting than having the rope holders count us down. One of our favorite Streetmosphere characters was riding in the car. (I wish I knew her name.)
They invited us all to be part of their new production.
Lights, Camera, action! Hollywood, here we come!
And we are off with the hordes of people to TSM!
The plan was that Chuck would get the fastpasses while I got in line and then hed meet up with me. We split up, but the line was moving so fast I was going into the building without him. He gave up and joined me. Before we knew it, we were on the ride!! It was nice to get to go through the whole queue since weve only fast passed it before.
I loved Mr. Potato Head. You can see how far the technology has come since Buzz Lightyear in his ride.
And the eyewear is such a fashion statement.
Chuck kicked my butt. Can I argue that I was sick?
When we came out, it was raining and cold. Thanks to Chuck for remembering the big ponchos. We suited up, grabbed TSM fastpasses and headed for Rockin Roller Coaster.
I was hoping to ride this for the first time, but I was scared to risk feeling any worse. We agreed Chuck would ride and we would meet back up at 10:15 in the Villians Store.
Chuck got some great pictures in the queue. Its kind of neat to see what it looks like inside.
Chuck was able to walk on and ride twice. He said he had a great time except for the fact that on one ride a lady wouldnt sit beside him. She swapped with her husband. He was from Canada, though, and he and Chuck had a great time. (Who would turn down sitting next to my husband!)
In the meantime, I walked through the stores and window shopped. I felt a little sorry for the poor CMs that had work in the Hard Rock store. There was a video of Adam Sander singing the Hannakah song. Now, I like the Hannakah song, but all day long
.. Torture.
I was feeling really hungry so I walked over to the Villians store to get something sweet. As I got up to the counter to order, I realized Chuck had all my money in his man purse. Embarrasement!!
I found a nice spot outside the window of the villain shop where the Eveil Queen is with her spinning wheel. It was out of the rain, but I could see all the way down the street. It was fun to watch the people. Some were prepared for the rain, covered in ponchos. Others were just taking their chances, running from cover to cover. Most were still having a good time.
Soon I saw Chuck coming down the street. He was hungry too so we decided to try the Starring Rolls Bakery. It is not designed for a rainy day. Of course, it was packed and the way the line is set up only a few people can be inside at a time. Everyone had crowded inside and the line was hugging the wall. People kept trying to come in and get things, but then there was no room to stand without going outside, so it was confusion. Also, some people didnt know what was covered on their dining plans and so every checkout took awhile. People were coming, grabbing stuff, cutting in line. It was a mess. In spite of all this, one CM was doggedly determined that the line would move in the way it always had. To the point she made Chuck and I move and the rest of the line moved in front of us. I am embarrassed to say, I acted badly. I was hungry, I was cold and after waiting 20 minutes, our wait was starting all over again. When the CM moved us, I whined
..loudly, But now all those people are going to be in front of us! The CM didnt care.
But then, new people came in and the couple that were behind us originally (They now had moved up) were asked, Where is the line? The dad made eye contact with me and said, Im not sure what is going on, but Im behind Chuck! (WE had on our Mousefest nametags.) We all laughed. And true to his word, he held back the line so our section could move up and through the checkout. I was so grateful to him. Some people would have been ticked off at me for my loud whining or taken advantage of the situation and gone on ahead, but he didnt. He had the true spirit of Disney! When we reached him, in true manly fashion, Chuck strikes up a conversation to say thank you.
Chuck: It takes a real man to carry a pink camo backpack.
Guy: Yeah, thats funny coming from a man carrying a purse!
Yeah, men saying thank you. Gotta love it.
They were very nice and Chuck and the dad discussed driving to Florida, gas prices and such. We finally got through the line and took our pastries outside.
It was really raining and the temperature had dropped even more. (Remember my search for shorts the day before? Mother Nature had a good laugh at me.) There was nowhere to sit. I thought maybe the big had had stairs under cover, but that was not the case. At this point, Im thinking this better be the best Cinnamon Roll in the history of the world with all we are going through for it.
We found some stairs that were covered in front of the soon to be American Idol Attraction.
It was a good cinnamon roll, but Chuck thinks we were enjoying more because of this.
Paint fumes always perk up my day.
We sat for awhile, watching the people, talking. We found out that even though the rain calls off the High School Musical parade, they still play the music. Much to my dismay, Chuck reenacted it for me. The paint fumes, again. No, I didnt take pictures. Better just to forget.
