Since I'm waiting for crews to come dig up my front yard, (sewer problems...again) I thought I'd post another update to cheer myself up! hope you enjoy it too!
Day One Part Four
On our way out of the Magic Kingdom, we stopped by the Fire Station. They had the cutest ornament with Mickey police officer on top. I didnt get it, but Im planning to in the summer. I hope it will still be there!
At the turnstiles, we saw a CM with a monorail pin and we traded. Unfortunately, when I got home, it was a color I already had!! A tip from me: keep a pin list!!
After a short ride on my favorite mode of WDW transportation (Monorail), we are at the Grand Floridian. Its even grander at Christmas time! You come in on the second floor and then you can take the elevator or the grand staircase down to the bottom level. Who doesnt want to take the grand staircase!!
Once you are down on the ground floor, the tree is breathtaking!
It is covered with the most wonderful Victorian ornaments like fans, birdcages, little purses.
Light fixture for LL!
Behind the beautiful tree sits the Gingerbread house made out of real gingerbread but big enough to house a real store. (One of my Disney goals is to work there for a season.)
One of the chefs was demonstrating the techniques used to built the house.
Had to try a piece!
The Gingerbread house is covered with hidden Mickeys. See it?
CMs at work.
I love the little paintings over the windows. I took this picture for Em.
Taking a minute to enjoy and (drool over the Steinway.)
Back upstairs we took a minute to visit one of my favorite places in all of WDW. One the second floor of GF, there is a balcony which overlooks the lake and beach and over to the Polynesian. It is almost always empty and like a breath of fresh air. I could sit there all day.
I was really hitting the wall (please remember it is my first real day out of bed in a week.) and burning up in the jeans so we decide to head back to CBR and rest. We got off the bus at Port Royal to look in the gift shop for some shorts or capris or Im not going to make it through the rest of this trip (Later, thats gonna make you laugh.)
Chuck got some shots of the now empty food court.
I really like how it is the inside made to look like the outside. Of course, this is the last time we saw it because it was so darn far away from the room.
There is also a shop in that area decorated in a pirate Christmas theme. I never really associated pirates with Christmas.
Skull and crossbones ornaments, not something you see every day. (I need one.)
I love these little tropical trees.
In the shop I was able to find one pair of shorts. They were mens, but I was desperate. (Oh, you are so gonna laugh.) I took them in the dressing room. I heard Chuck talking to someone outside. It sound like Heather (Circusgirl) . I thought about yelling out there, but decided it wouldnt be the most ladylike thing to do. The shorts, of course, didnt fit. It was Heather! It was so good to see her again. She had just come over to look around one of her favorite resorts. We discussed our plans and travels so far. I knew wed be meeting up again. She asked if there had been something special in our room. When we said no, she said, Hmmm, Ill have to see about that. A surprise? I love surprises!!
