We also spent Christmas in Florida two years in a row, and even though we are from Northern Michigan WE DID NOT SWIM!!! Well, ok, we are wusses, but the temp. was 60--honest to God, 60 degrees--and I swear it was warmer in Michigan with snow on the ground!! I don't know how Florida does that, except a 40 mph wind might be to blame. The lifequards even had winter coats on, and several people offered to buy our winter coats, which we actually wore when I insisted on sitting at the pool. It was miserable weather, too,but I wanted to swim. Then we noticed the lifeguards. We felt so bad for them, because they had to remain at the pool in a rainstorm with 40 mph winds. Finally, we bought coffee for every employee we could find who was working on Christmas. I was feeling very guilty about my complaining about not being able to swim in the pool, when I realized that all those employees had to work on Christmas Day! (besides, it did warm up the following week)
