Hi everyone! We aren't going to the Fort until next Christmas (2013), but just reading all the questions about Christmastime on here lately has me already so looking forward to our trip! I have a couple questions, which to you Disney veterans they may seem silly, but this is only our 2nd trip ever we are planning (our first was this past February), so I am not too knowledgeable about all things Disney...:)

I'm wondering first- what exactly is the Christmas party at Magic Kingdom?

Second- how do you travel around and see all the lights at the different resorts. From what I remember- every resort has a different bus, so to go to all of them, do you just keep transferring buses? And how many can you actually get to on the monorail?

I also went online and they seem to be letting me book online already for next December- I thought you couldn't do that, except over the phone?

Thanks everyone for all your help!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party @ MK: This is a special ticket party that runs from 7 pm to 12 am. There is a special parade that runs twice along with special character meet and greet. Main Street has snow. It has been many years since I went, but someone will probably come soon to give you more information.

Not all of the resorts are as decked out as others. If you want to go to all of the resorts, it would take a lot of transfers. There are only three resorts actually on a monorail line: Contemporary, Polynesian, & Grand Floridian. If you want to visit all of the resorts, remember that most resorts require you to go back to a park or DTD to transfer to a different bus. There are a few were you can walk between them.

Reservations can be made 499 days in advance. Ifthe rates have not already been released, then you would need to call. Since the entire rates for 2013 have been released, the website has been updated as the dates reached 499 days. I know a month ago, I could only check for reservations through part of November 2013. Now that December 31, 2013 is only 496 days away, the entire year of 2013 can now be reserved. Now, if anyone wants to reserve for the days in 2014 that are within the 499 days, they will have to call until the rates are released in Summer 2013 and the website is updated.

We take the monorail to the 3 and drive to the other resorts. You could also use DTD as a hub and visit the resorts from there by bus or boat. be sure to see the gingerbread house at GF.

The monorail does Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Contemporary.

If you take a bus to the Boardwalk, then you can walk around to lake and see Boardwalk, Beach club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin. Then take a bus back to a park or DTD. The Swan and Dolphin are not Disney hotels but the Dolphin has a beautiful tree that they put over the fountain in the lobby.
You can also walk to those hotels from Epcot if you are spending the day there. Sometimes we will do Epcot in the morning, walk around the Boardwalk around lunch, then head back to Epcot in the afternoon.

That covers every Deluxe hotel except for Wilderness Lodge.

We've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside at Christmas before too. They have a gorgeous tree. I have yet to see decor at the Value resorts though.

Tommorrow around 10.am a reservation at Ft Wilderness from 12/01/2012 will be cancelled..:confused3 This is for a premium site from Dec 1 to Dec 25. Wanted to give some:)one a chance to reserve if your looking for this time frame... Good luck to whoever is looking. Hopefully we will be back next year!
