I need advice for the week of Christmas. We are debating whether to use one of our options for the fireworks, or use it for an attraction. We would prefer to use it for an attraction, but we also really want to see the Christmas fireworks. We will only be there for one day. We have never been during Christmas week before, and realize that it will be very crowded. We usually get our FP+ earlier in the afternoon so that we can possibly get 4th and 5th passes, but with it being very crowded we are not sure we would get anything worth using anyway. Is it necessary to have FP+ to see the fireworks? (This would be early in the week.) TIA!

I'm assuming that you're talking about the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom..

Use it for a ride. Think of it this way - you can see the fireworks from virtually anywhere inside the park (and a lot of areas outside the park,) but only people who wait on line or have a FP+ can get on the rides.

Need to be honest - don't expect to get a 4th or 5th FP+ on Christmas Day. I've secured a FP+ during the day on December 27th or 28th once before (it was for the Goofy coaster...) so it is do-able for the less-popular rides during the week of Christmas, but it's pretty much impossible on Christmas Day.

Stick to your FP+. Don't even bother refreshing and trying to 7DMT - focus your time on the other popular rides. If you're off-site, 7DMT will most likely be booked by the time your reservation window opens.

Check out my blog and free e-book for tips - survivedisxmas.com. It's more geared toward on-site guests, but has some good tips.

We are onsite, and yes I do mean Holiday Wishes. Sorry-didn't mention we would be at MK for the one day, but we will be there on the Monday before Christmas. (Not Christmas day-avoiding that one!) :-) We were there over Memorial Weekend this year, and found it almost impossible to get a spot for Wishes due to crowds. (And 4th and 5th passes were about the same for us!) That is why we are debating using one of our passes for Wishes, although I would much rather use it for a ride. Are 7DMT possible to get at the 60 day mark? We've gotten them before no problem, but never tried Christmas week.

We got A&E and 7DMT for our MK Day 12/23.

Uhgg...I forgot that our day is already open for those who are coming before us. I hope we can still get 7DMT!!! (Thankfully we don't need A&E with a 17 yr old dd and 2 boys...)
LOL A&E Was my request!!! My DS17 and DD14 love them too! My DH was less thrilled HAHA!

I'll be there the same day as you and am debating the same thing. I think we've decided to get a FP for Holiday Wishes mainly because I'd like to avoid the crowds and having to stake out a spot and wait forever. Plus we have an ADR at BOG at 6:10 and right now they have Wishes scheduled for 8:00. I won't have time to stake out a spot. I just hope I have time to eat before the fireworks. I'm kind of hoping they move Wishes back to 9:00.
