So we visited Islands of Adventure today and awoke to an amazing buffet breakfast in the Drury Inn. We have never stayed here before but I highly recommend it. Very attentive staff, clean facilities and all you can eat for breakfast and dinner. When you have two growing boys with you this is a god send. (Pictures will be posted tomorrow)
Youngest DS has never been an avid thrill seeker and has spent the last 10 months talking himself into riding the Flight of the Hippogriff at WWHP. Anyhow, we arrived and separated, eldest DS and DH trotted off to The Hulk and I frogmarched (is all I can describe it as before he changed his mind) the youngest to WWHP. As we approached the dreaded little voice at my side started to say "I don't want to do it mum ....please don't make me do it." Now, I am not nor have I ever been one of those parents who forces their terrified children on rides but, this time I ignored the whimpering (and felt terrible) and promptly sat him with me on the ride. Afterwards he was so proud of himself that he said he wants to go on it again ....albeit not straight away.
The crowds weren't too bad and the longest queue we had was on Forbidden Journey but that was only 15 minutes. The masses arrive this weekend so I think this I'll be a different story next week!
We then met up with the rest of my DH family who are also here and we went to Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Barge Rats...well...I have never had so much fun. We were all drenched (me, DS x 2, DH, brother in law, nephew and niece) and I think this ride conquered my youngest fears as straight after the chirp of 'can I go on again' was heard and the children skipped off on their own for one more trip (new footwear is now required due to the soaking they got).
For lunch we had Cinnabon ....WOW... So bad but oh so good and at about 3pm we started to flag so whisked ourselves back to the Drury. Free popcorn and soda awaited the kids and the beckon of a heated indoor and outdoor pool was too much to resist. Dinner was served at 5:30 and was referred to as 'kickback' where you can fill up on food and for the adults 3 free alcoholic beverages each. We had fried chicken, baked potatoes, chilli, hotdogs and budlight. We also made the mistake of having two cocktails which finished us off and we were asleep at 8pm.
