My family is going to disney the week of Christmas, we are considering getting a small prelite Christmas tree for our room, Has anyone done this before before?? Does Disney frown upon this??

I guess no one has done this before i will be the first ;) I'll let you all know how it goes lol

My DH and I will be at WDW for Christmas for the first time this year and we were wondering the same thing. I've read on many posts where people do this all the time. In fact, some people even will leave behind tree, ornaments and decorations from one week to the next for other Disers to use! I've seen them post when they are ready to start this process going. My DH plans on getting a little tree for our room. So definitely go for it! :santa:

I took a small Christmas tree to BCV last year. It was one that is lit by fiber optics, so I didn't have to pack lights. I decorated it with the small plush Disney magnets (their hands and feet have magnets, so they could grip the needles) so I didn't have to worry about breakable ornaments. It worked very well.

HI - you can contact the WDW florist if you want a Disney tree in your room also; each year they have several different varieties to choose from! Enjoy!

The Disney Florist will have trees available beginning sometime in September. They are really cute and typically offer a couple of designs. The cost is around $375 though and if you want it shipped home afterwards, that's an additional $45. It's something you can keep and for that price, you probably would.

Aside from that, you can bring your own small tree and set it up in your room. If you do a search on Christmas Trees by thread date, you'll probably see a bunch of threads about a tree swap. DIS'ers will setup a list of those going during the holidays and one person will bring the tree, then pass it along to the next one in line. We've gone during the holidays and I picked up a 3 foot tree that had the lights and decorations already on it. I'm pretty sure I paid $20 at Target for it. You can ship it ahead of time if you want, pack it or purchase one from a local store when you arrive. There are lots of great options. Disney doesn't mind decorations, as long as you don't damage any of their surfaces. People even bring along suction cups to decorate windows and balcony doors.

I bought a 3 ft fiber optic tree last year at Dollar General and brought it with us. We put it on the table and the kids decorated it with Disney mini ornaments. We enjoyed having it in the room.
I passed it on to another Disser checking in the day we checked out. Unfortunately she never let me know that she recieved it, I hope they did!!! There are usually several Christmas tree swaps during the season on here.

Do you know of any pictures of the Florist trees?

I bought a smallish $30 tree and some cheap ornaments for it at Wal Mart for our Christmas Trip. I think it was 4' tall. We brought in the patio table from our balcony and set it on that in the corner of our WL room where the table and chairs are. It was great! It really made our room feel like "home" for the holidays! :)

This is the tree from a few years ago:

I don't have any pictures from recent years though.

Everyone should go to Disney for Christmas at least once! We did a few years ago. I sent a couple big boxes with a tree, decs, presents to the Swan a couple weeks in advance. It was waiting for us when we got there. We decorated the window as well. The disney ones are cool, but expensive. We packed it all up and delivered it back home at the end of our trip. :thumbsup2 :santa:

I never thought about the christmas tree until I read this thread. Thanks for the heads up. We'll be there from the 23rd to the 31st of Dec. Where can I get the disney decorations with the magnets that sounds so cute. I'll write a note for myself NOW to remember to bring the stockings too.

Oh, I almost forgot! The Disney Christmas store in DTD has a small, fiber optic tree all decorated. It was, I think, $30. We bought two last summer. Not sure if they still have it, but someone could check that out. Perfect for a room. It has mouse heads all over, of different colors and a base with different characters on each side. (I'd take a pic if it wasn't all packed away, sorry)

I'm so glad to hear that! :woohoo: That would be the easiest for us to do. If anyone can find out if they still have those, please post here.

my husband thinks I decorate too much for Christmas here. I wonder how he's going to feel about me decorating our room at POP lol
