when do you put your chritsmas tree up?
i really want to put mine up now, i was going to the other day but resisted the temptation but i know it wont be long.
any other mad people out there who want to get in the christmas spirit this early
No earlier than Dec 18th. But I do like to leave it up until 6th Jan - I used to like coming home from school in January and the tree still being up, but the kids and I don't go back until the 7th next year so it will all have been packed away.
We buy it on the 1st or 2nd of December and put it up that day, then it comes down again on the 27th or 28th of December.
I'd love to put it up earlier, but I don't know if it would live - we may have to end up throwing it away half way through December and buying another - and NO WAY would my husband go for that.
I think putting it up before Halloween would be too early but any time after that would be fine I hate having to take my tree down in January as it makes the house look so bare
A Couple of weeks before christmas then comes down on the 2nd/3rd of January...
I love christmas but I don't like celebrating too early, makes the wait seem really long.
Please don't strike me down Mandy..... I don't know if we are going to have a tree this year as we won't be here to take it down in Jan, and it would have to come down before our holidays......I Don't really know what to do to be honest!
Ours also go up first weekend in December. I've started my Christmas shopping and this week also bough an Advent Calender (High School Musical) and the first goodies for the Christmas cupboard. Also bought some wrapping paper and intend starting my wrapping this week.
Around about 21st December for us , the later the better, and then down again, as soon as possible after, leaving just one Christmasy thing up until the 12th night, so I dont get bad luck I know, I know, Im a right misery when it comes to Christmas
Too right, last year I was first on the Disboards (UK) to put trees and decorations up but as we're going to London on 3-Nov to see ather Chrsitmas in Harrods (honestly !!) I'm delaying it this year until 10-November.
However, I refuse to put it up as early as these people in the Rhondda, South Wales....................
Ours goes up on 12th night. This year we're thinking we may not put a tree up at all. We are away most of November and December, so there really doesn't seem much point in putting one up.
This year we will probably put it up mid November as we will probably be too tired and preoccupied to put it up in December! (Any excuse to get that tree up!!!)
I've started my Christmas shopping in full force too for the same reason so should have everything ready for our new arrival I like the idea of her coming home to a house full of the smells, bells and lights of Christmas
we always put our inside decs up on the 1st december, the kids find it so magical, off they go to bed one night and the next morning the whole house is done up for christmas, magic! we usually save a bit of the tree to do together and play chrismassy music and drink wine to get in the mood.
now outside is another whole story hubby normally starts mid november and we have the big switch on in dec, ...yes were one of those mad people who have a lit up house, people actually come round or drive past now just to see....., our neighbours also do theres, im sure we must be able to be seen from space
last year i made hubby cut my hedge in half so people would see my tree in my bay window
