We have one of those old fashioned tinsel/plastic stars. Colored lights. I grew up with a star, but then before kids I did bows or nothing. Then my kids voted on a star and they chose this one.
It’s currently driving me crazy. I’ve been staring at it all day because it’s very crooked. I just don’t have the energy to go get the stepladder and wrestle with it. Maybe tomorrow.
A few years ago my daughter went to a nursery with her brownie pack to make Christmas wreaths. One thing she used was a bunch of sticks with some fake red berries on it. It sounds dumb but we liked it and it is now used as our tree topper. It doesn’t sit right at the top but gets stuck into the tree near the top. Again, it sounds dumb but it looks really nice.
When I was young we had a plastic Santa that was sitting on a reindeer like he was a cowboy. And it would light up. It was pretty tacky. When I was a teenager my mother crocheted a star and it was a huge improvement.
We switch it up. One dd likes the star the other likes an angel. Back when my sister had her first baby I drew an angel and put her baby picture on it and we used that for a while I like the spire too....no one else in my house does though
We have a Santa that sits on top of the tree. Love it and had it for years. This year we went to a fake tree and no matter what I do it doesn't fit right. Thinking of just getting a Santa hat for this year and worry about a new tree topper next year. Growing up we always had a light up star on top.
Nothing. I noticed that there wasn't one in the box with the ornaments so it either disappeared or we didn't have one last year. I'm not concerned. Growing up we had an angel, stars are fine by me.
When I was a kid we had one of those glass toppers. I forgot what they're supposed to represent to be honest. Are they supposed to represent the star? We now have an angel. But she swan dives off the tree from time to time courtesy of our cat. I have never had a genuine star topper or an unconventional novelty topper or any sort of light up topper.

We have the same problem with our angel. I think the top branch of our artificial tree just isn't as strongly rigid as the one on the recently formerly live tree.
