Christmas Tree in your room?

We have a friend who is going to WDW during Christmas and looked into having a tree put in his room.

He was told that it would cost $300 for staff to put a tree in his room and decorate it ...

Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm on the boards at least 3-4 times a week and have never read this before.....

Does anyone have pics to post of a tree that the hotel staff has put in your room for you??

Yep, they are that pricey. I've taken my own tree and decorations. I live quite close though, so it wasn't a problem.

I know some folks go to a local store and purchase a small tree and decorations when they get here (if they are flying and can't bring them).

I think an artificial tree would be the only sort I would try to use. It would be way too much hassle to have a real tree in a resort. Also, I'm not sure if WDW housekeeping staff would appreciate all those needles dropping!

With all the free shipping deals going on now before Christmas, I'd be inclined to have a small tree w/ decorations shipped there for me.

The WDW Florist does this. Click on the link to see the tree. They charge $365! :scared1: I think it's totally INSANE. I took a 4' tree last year with Disney ornaments and my DD and I set it up upon arrival. (We drove.) It was beautiful. I just can't afford to spend that kind of $$...especially this time of year.

I've seen the tree already and I have to say the picture doesn't do it justice. Yes it is pricey, but it's very well done. With the cost of the Disney ornaments on it, it's not really much of a mark-up either (sad to say LOL).

It is much cheaper to just ship one down, and if you are in concierge the CM's will set it up for you (at least they have in the past for people I know), but the Disney Florist one is a way to go.

If it makes you feel any better, for that price it includes (I believe) shipping the tree to your home after you leave Disney. We stayed during Christmas 2 years ago and my mother arranged for a similar tree (doesn't seem like it was quite that expensive, more like the $140 Tree Trimming with Mickey one, but I could be wrong) to be delivered to our room and when we checked out, they packed it up and shipped it home to us. We still have it sitting out year round as a reminder of a great Christmas.

Yea, that is a pretty tree and all but for that much money it better be able to drive me to work everyday. :scared1:

It worked out great for us this year. Someone started a Christmas tree swap on another board I am a member of. One person bought all the trees and dropped them off at various resorts to get it started and we are passing them along. For $11 I'll have a 6 ft decorated tree in our room. You can't beat that.

Do you know where the thread is for swapping trees? DH and I will be at the Dolphin from 12/29-29/07 and would like to know if we could pick up on of the trees?

We heard of this first on the Food Network. They run a special about Christmas in Disney World. We looked into it two years ago when we brought the kids in December. Then again last year. We decided to do it until the tree we wanted was not available. They have a couple of tree themes to choose from. But they do sell out. Believe it or not. Even with the high prices these trees are very popular because they are really nice. The themes change year to year. Pictures of previous trees may not help you with what is available this year. So head over to www.disneyflorist.com.

You can pay an additional fee to have it shipped to your home after your trip.

We ended up purchasing a whole lot of Disney decorations and characters on our trip. The we purchased a small, second tree for the kids. We kept it in our family room. The kids get to pick out new decorations each time we visit WDW and I have ordered a few more from disneydirect.com.

Just a thought... There are over 1,000 trees to view throughout Disney World during the holidays. That seems like enough trees to me. We are glad we didn't spend the money on it. We were amazed at the beautiful trees throughout the parks and hotels. Now we have one we have put together. We have the memories of choosing the decorations and it was a lot less money.

A cheaper idea would be the stockings the Disney florist also has available.

are these real trees or fake trees? because i didn't think you would be able to be a real tree in your room for health and safetly issues (fire hazard).

i guessing their fake

I didn't even know you could do something like that! I do not need a tree in my room for that amount of money, but thanks to the person that posted about the stockings! I'm going to look into that for DS. He would get such a kick out of it.

EXACTLY!!! and how much time do we REALLY spend in our room???? We wouldn't ever take the time to enjoy it...we're never in our room!!

My wonderful husband had the large Disney Florist tree set up as a surprise for me when we were at the BWI last week. It's beautiful and comes in a nice base with a castle tree top and other ornaments. It was an additional $50 to be packaged and shipped home.
