Christmas Tree Decorations!

We do a hodge-podge tree every year with lots of different ornaments - mostly Disney and Peanuts. Unfortunately I don't have any photos to show.

If you want to start adding Disney ornaments, you can buy them at Hallmark and look for them on Ebay. We buy them also while we're on vacation at WDW. Hopefully I'll be able to find some next week at DL.

DisneyDude61 I love your tree. Can I ask where you got the Tink topper? DD would love that for her tree in her room.

My mom is a Tigger fan so I gave her a "Thanksgiving" present a few years ago. I'd won a bunch of auctions from eBay. For the orange lights, I went to a home and garden store (not a big chain) and bought the lights after Halloween when they were on clearance. I probably only bought about 20 ornaments but spent probably about $100 or so by the time I bought the lights and everything else for it. I think I even found a tree skirt to match. Here's a link to my favorite Christmas store in MI. It was terrible when we lived about half an hour from here....it's hard to go in a store like this and not come out with anything! (and they have AWESOME Christmas sugar cookies with icing!) http://bronners.ecommerce-site-search.com/?catalog=bronners&query=disney&x=12&y=5

Happy shopping! :goodvibes

trying again to attach the picture
I don't know what I am doing wrong :confused3

Upload your pix to Photobucket then copy the link for that photo and click the little icon that looks like a postcard with a mountian on it and paste the link there.

Pssst - did you register for Pasadena? I haven't yet and not sure if I am going to.

A few years back Pottery Barn had the cutest ornament...they were small picture frames hung with ribbon. I bought small frames for wallet size and a little larger and used ribbon and a small screw in eye at the top, add picture of your family and ....Ta Da! Dollar General had the frames for 1.00 @ can't beat that for the cost.

We make our own ornaments every year but usually using Christmas themed cookie cutters. But! I can't believe I never thought to make some Mickey heads :). They are very easy and your house smells yummy all season. We decorate ours with glue and glitter.

Cinnamon-Applesauce Ornaments
(Note that these ornaments are NOT edible.)

The ingredients
1 cup cinnamon
3/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup white glue

How to do it
Mix all ingredients well until they form a dough. Flatten the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Keep in mind that the dough will be quite dry, and can be tricky to work with.

Use cookie cutters to cut out festive holiday shapes. Use a drinking straw to punch a small hole in the top of each ornament if you plan to hang them. Keep them flat and move them to a warm, dry spot for 48 hours to allow them to dry. Turn each ornament over every few hours to dry on each side. Alternatively, put them in a warm (not hot!) oven for several hours.

(I air dry...never tried the oven method. It takes about two days to dry completely by air.)

Thanks for the link to the Mickey heads made from styrofoam balls - they look great asn easy to make.

OP - do you have Disney stuffed animals? Small beanie ones would fit in the tree and larger ones under the tree. Very festive.

I also like the picture frame idea - you could use cute clip art from online or your own photos.

My kids also make these at school with christmas cards - I could see them easily being made with Disney Scrapbook paper reinforced with a heavier bond paper. I put a link to a site - I don't like her solid color one much, but they are very cute when made with colorful paper! http://familycrafts.about.com/cs/treeornaments/a/paperornaments.htm

Have great fun with the ideas!

You can grab up a bunch of those Mickey Head paint chips from Home Depot, cut them out and glue them back to back (color sides out), punch a hole in the top and hang those up.
You can also get some glass ornaments for cheap and a couple of paint pens and draw Mickey head designs on the balls.

I'd do something kind of cheap this year and look for ornaments on clearance after Xmas for next year. Hallmark always has some Disney ornaments, and they go 50% off the day after Xmas (and sometimes to 75% off after Jan. 1). Some Hallmark stores have a pre-Xmas sale in November, but I don't know if those are invitation only or for the Ornament Collector Club or what.

My kids had a bunch of Disney Christmas beanie baby type stuffed characters. When DS was little, as I was decorating the tree he started putting those on the branches at the bottom. It actually looked cute so we stuck them in all over the tree. They don't have strings on them so we just have to set nestle them back into the branches.

thanks. I recieved tinkerbell as a a gift and Im not to sure where she got her, I think she said from the disney store

Thanks, sadly my Disney store closed. I did find it on Ebay but its alittle more than I want to pay for dd's tree. I'm going to keep a lookout at other stores and maybe find something similiar.

are the styrofoam balls ok to put on the tree next to lights???
dont want to start a fire!!!:scared1:

:yay: :yay: i got cotton/paper balls, cant wait for them to arrive so i can get started!

i REALLY would like to get a disney train set for under the tree too... anyone have one/any thoughts>>?
where to buy in UK??

Hi there-I was at Walmart and Kmart this morning and they both have quite a selection of Disney ornaments, stockings and other decorations already out. Walmart had many more out but Kmart had large plushes and other things. They all seemed reasonably priced (you can get a $5 coupon for signing up for their emails!). They also had tree skirts for the mini tress. When I have the money and the boys aren't with me, I'm going to pick those up for their trees. I think they'll really like that! :goodvibes I might also pick up the stocking for our Dec trip.

red glass balls and I've never seen black ones but maybe you could get the clear ones and have the kids swirl black paint in them.

When my 1st baby was born we decorated our tree with all the cards we got- maybe you could find some inexpensive cards to hang.

expired admission/room key cards-i am such a loser- I have them hanging in my camper!
