well i know that they do have characters at receptions, maybe you could have like santa goofy or characters in their holiday clothes, i dont see why not . That would be great. I also am having a dec wedding so i love the idea.Might use it myself if i can. Another idea was lots of red roses and candles. I love the hot chocolate idea. When i think of more i will let you know since i am doing the same

I really like the hot chocolate idea too. What about egg nog?

I would also be thinking along the lines of red roses...maybe you could also incorporate mistletoe and holly in your decorations...that would be cute, having to kiss under the mistletoe throughout your wedding day!

Maybe you could get some glass ornaments in red or green and somehow get your names put on them along with the date? I know there is an online company that does this, but I don't have the URL on hand. They would make great favors.

I'm not too sure how I owuld incorporate pink with this. Maybe with candy canes, somehow? You could always do a pink, red, and white color scheme.

There are so many things you could do, just think of what you realy love about that time of year, and go with it.

I want to do a Disney vow renewal sometime in the future (who knows when! :) . My number one desire is to do it in December and with a Christmas theme. I'd love to hear what you decide. Please keep us posted. If I think of any ideas, I'll be sure to post.

We had a December wedding, and love the decorations and themes... We used red roses and white tulips for floral, with some dark green accents. My MOH wore a red satin dress, the Mom's all wore dark green dresses. We used a red, green and gold ribbon in the corsages, and did tulle pew bows with a single rose and some evergreen. At our reception we continued that theme in the flowers and colors, plus had lots of candles. It was very pretty and festive, but still understated. I'm sure they could do multicolor lights in trees, probably do cypress or something that resembles a Christmas tree for decor, along with a ton of other things. I had no idea how much they could do until we had our first meeting.

If a Disney Bride was on a budget..... Since red roses at that time of the year are $$$ I would go with Pointesetters. They are beautiful and come in RED PINK AND WHITE. These would be beautiful set up for a xmas wedding, since they are a christmas flower.

i just recieved an answer from disney that there is no santa mickey; they only have santo goofy for 730.00. if you want a santa , it will be $1,200 for a traditional Santa Claus for a 3 hour window.
kinda upset...

HOW PERFECT! I LOVE THE HOT COCOA IDEA! I WANTED A CHRISTMAS WEDDING BUT H2B FELT ASKING EVERYONE TO GIVE UP NORMAL FAMILY OBLIGATIONS.... THEY HAVE DISNEY WEDDING ORNAMENTS THAT YOU CAN PERSONALIZE AT THE MANY DAYS OF CHRISTMAS STORE AT DOWNTOWN DISNEY MARKETPLACE, WHICH ARE GREAT DECOR AND GREAT FAVORS! YOU COULD ALSO INCORPORATE POINSETTA'S IN YOUR DECOR. BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR MAGICAL HOLIDAY WEDDING!

I'm surprised they dont have a Santa Mickey. Thats Odd. I have seen Mickey all suited up in a Santa outfit when I was there a couple of years ago at Christmas. I wonder why you cant have him go dressed like that????

Santa Goofy is really cute but what other character do you guys think he should be paired up with?? I mean it would be so cute to have santa mickey and then like holiday minnie. Maybe i'll get holiday pluto.

I had a Christmas themed wedding last December 13th. Here are some of the things I did to incorporate the holiday:

--had a Christmas themed cake--it was all white, including the decorations. One layer had holly on it, one had wreaths, and one had snowflakes. We had the white chocolate castle cake topper. The GF bakery even put "icicles" on the cake plate and some sugar to look like snow.

--had Christmasy bouquets--I had deep red (Black Magic variety) roses, with holly leaves, crystals, and hypericum berries interspersed; my bridesmaids had white roses with the holly leaves and hypericum berries

--my bridesmaids' dresses were deep red

--had greenery and berry wreaths on the pews at the Wedding Pavilion (these were transferred to the tables at the reception around the base of the candelabras with the floral arrangements)

--had the Christmas decor that Disney uses at our reception venue (our reception was at the American Adventure Rotunda, so there were Christmas trees, wreaths, and garland in there already)

--had favor tins filled with mints and tied with red ribbon. The stickers on the jars had holly leaves on them. I got them from www.psaessentials.com (two thumbs way up!).

--we served turkey as well

Here is a link to my scanned in wedding pictures (sorry some of them are a little dark/crooked, I had to scan them in on my old scanner) so you can see some of the Christmas stuff:

Hope that helps! Enjoy planning your big day! :)

WOW!!! Thanks for sharing those pictures ead79. They were absolutely beautiful. You looked just like a princess.
The cake was AMAZING!!!

Thanks so much, ellie! I LOVE the picture of you and your husband kissing in front of the Lighthouse at the YC!

i also hve been thinking of using Red and Green color.
but i am also thinkig if it is possible to make artificial snow since i come from Canada, and we always have snow.
i am also trying to collect disney christmas stockings, inside i will probably put some small gift to guests...
any idea?
by the way, your pic are so pretty!!!

Hi all, I'm a newbie and am planning on a VR (20 yrs!!) for Dec 2005. To twojo21, do you have a ressie for your wedding more than a year in advance? I thought they would only go out to a year. Does anyone know if the Sandy Cove store at the GF has a website, or their phone #? Is that the best place at WDW to get Disney wedding stuff? ead79, WOW, what a fab wedding! Does WDW offer any indoor venues for an intimate VR? Or are thay all outside?

Papillon,

To answer your questions. You cannot begin the booking process with Disney until 1 year out from your wedding date. If you choose a date/location and someone else chose it as well, you go into a lottery to see who will get to use that date/location.

Sandy Cove does not have a website, nor does Disney merchandising, but you can call Disney merchandising at 1-800-228-0228 and ask for merchandising. There is no direct number for Sandy Cove. As for how good it is for Wedding stuff in WDW, there is some stuff there, some in DTD at the Disney Memories store and more in the World of Disney store.

The only indoor venue for intimate weddings is the Wedding Pavillion and is only availble with the Deluxe Intimate Package.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Thanks, Kismetdreams, I was afraid that there were only outdoor venues. I've frozen my buns at WDW in Dec. before, so I'm not too hot on an outdoor VR, unless the officiant can talk really fast. I am planning on calling a SM next week to get more details. THANKS!
