Christmas Shopping 2010

[The big gift for my DS's 4 and 7 will be the Wii. I thought i would get the console plus 1 game for each. I much prefer to be done with shopping and not have to deal with the crowds of black friday shopping. Has anyone waited until after Thanksgiving in past years to gt the Wii or games? Do you think there will be any big sales this year on them or should I just get it now so I know I will have it?:confused3

Thanks![/QUOTE]

The gotta deal dot com website is predicting that Wii consoles may be
onsale for as little as $99 on Black Friday. They are also predicting that
the cyber deals will be close to that the week before and after
BF. So, I'd probably wait a little while.

I have been getting bits and pieces from my ds4. So it looks like I need to be on the look out for the following:

Hex bugs and a track set

One more power bot transformer (found 1 at kmart on clearance)

Have some mighty beanz, track, and video game put up

DQ ice cream maker (maybe)

Cars color changers set with extra cars (let grandparents get it)

Maybe one or two more things. Just have to see what he likes

I don't know which ones he wants but TRU has the Nano ones on sale B2G1 right now and if you are a rewards member there is a coupon for two of them for around $10. I think the sale is good through tomorrow, not sure of the coupon date. I got 3 for DS's stocking.

Woohooo, I am not the only one shopping already :goodvibes

I mostly focus on the kiddos in my life more than anything so far I got

DD 5
American Girl Lanie, w/ accessories and an extra outfit (thanks to QVC, but this may be put away for her birthday in Jan.)
Olivia House/Pirate Playset
Tor Story 3 figures
Make your own Snoopy Foam Jewelry
O and I also got her a Princess Scooter, for free from Disney Movie Rewards
Another FREE item I am getting is Fancy Nancy Tea Party game for the DS, I just need to save up a few more swagbucks to get it.
She also wants AG Kits Stove, Kits Desk, some clothes for Kit and Molly and the new dolls from AG that go on the computer.

I got for the future in laws a calendar with DD's pics on each month...FREE from VistaPrint, just had to pay the shipping.

Still got TONS to get! :)

I know I can do a lot of shopping online, but I love going to the store and getting my stuff there, especially once Christmas season really starts! OK, sorry enough whining! Thanks for letting me complain!

I totally agree with this! I have this one Christmas memory that's stuck in my head, hopefully forever: My sister and I were just old enough to go off on our own in the mall. It was Christmas, and we made the trip to the mall (we lived in the boonies, and this was the heyday of the mall). Split from our parents. Shopped. Met up with them at one of those mall pizza places. It was so crowded in the mall and the restaurant, and we were tucking all these bags under our feet while we ate. We might have actually had something like four bags total, but my memory is all these bags and bags and bags we were carrying around the mall, full of secrets we'd bought for each other.

You can't beat online shopping, but there's something about carrying bags home that's so much fun!

I love, love, love the idea of the "school box"! My dd who is in first grade loves to play school with her AG dolls every day when she gets home from school. A long time ago I had the learning resource set for my ds, but I didn't want to reorder it, since a lot of the things we still have.

Last Christmas Santa brought my dd a white board/easel set which she LOVED! It was from Melissa and Doug and she had a pointer to go along with it! But I know she would love a plan book, papers, stickers, markers, stamps, etc. Maybe I will even pick up a cork board at staples so she can make Bulletin Boards! :goodvibes She is playing it a lot more this year, b/c she is a better reader/writer. Also, my mom is retiring after this year (she teaches 2nd grade) so mayber I can have all her old things!

I have plenty of ideas for dd, and ds12 and ds9 but not so many for ds5. He wants a small trampoline (the inside ones with the bars) b/c the one he got two years ago finally gave out (and that was after getting daily frequent use from all four kids!) and he wants that Big Foot (like spike the dinosaur) and some super hero sets, but I'm not sure what else.

If anyone has/knows a 5 year old boy....what is on his wish list?

I have a 6yo boy, he is very active and doesn't play with toys much so we're moving away from buying too many. He is asking for:
Mighty Beanz
Real Construction (has "wood" that they can really saw), he loves tools
Pillow Pet
a bike (he's outgrowing his)
gymnastics classes (I suggested he put this on his list since he really wants them and he agreed)
a nintendo ds (actually he wants a dsi xl, but he already has a ds he doesn't play so he's not getting one)
a new basketball

DH called me today while I was out shopping for a flower girl dress for my dd to say that a HUGE box came from American Girl by FedEx! It is Lanie's camper for dd6!!!! I ordered it and it was backordered until 10/15 and I was so nervous b/c dd6 really, really wanted it and I was afraid it wouldn't come in. So now it is packed away along with Lanie and I can check two big things off my list! Woo-Hoo!:cool1:

Yay for you!!! I need to order her soon!!!

I will be honest, the first time I read this thread I laughed since Christmas was the last thing on my mind as I was checking out the disboards from my blackberry on the beach. A few days ago I checked out this thread again hoping to come up with some ideas of what to get my children and my nieces for upcoming birthdays and Christmas. Well after reading 31 pages of posts I got inspired! I started to create lists for everyone we will need to get gifts for and yesterday I printed our Christmas card address labels. Today I took the kids to the beach thinking maybe I would get a good picture for the cards (but not stressing over it since we still have plenty of time to take one) and the very first picture taken I have 2 kids hugging, smiling and looking straight into the camera - this has never happened to me before.

Well I still have a LOT to do but I am so thankful that I saw this thread again and got the ball rolling. Maybe this year I might get all of the shopping done by the end of October or early November and actually have a stress free Christmas season!

That said, I hope you don't mind me joining this thread so that I don't relapse and fall back into my old stressful ways :worship:

well..that's the idea!! Stress free!!! And of course we don't mind-hopefully we can keep u from relapsing back to procrastination!!!!!

Where can I find this $10 coupon? I am a rewards member and received a $5 off purchase, but have not in awhile.

It came in an email. Actually the email had Babies R Us coupons but at the bottom it had a "click for more" link and that took you to a page full of coupons, the Hexbug coupon was one of them. I think the email came from Rewards R Us so you might search your email for that sender. The only reason I even clicked on the mail was because it was the first thing I've ever gotten from them (and I became a member in July...)

Also, if anyone was looking for Zhu Zhu things but didn't get/find what they wanted - check your Justice. Mine was selling all Zhu Zhu items 50% off then I used my 40% off coupon. I got the babies for 3.27 each and the outfits for 2.67 each.

I bought some things online from Toys R Us yesterday. I got my ds4 his other transformer, 2 10pk of Mighty Beanz Plus another free (have not seen these in the stores yet), 2 Hex Bugs plus one free. Did pay $8 for shipping.

Also got him a Hex bug case for Christmas. I plan on buying him 2 of the Habitats and some extra track. Yesterday he spent his own money and bought 3 Hex Bugs (one free) and I tried to talk him out of buying a Habitat, but he really wanted it. When I suggested just the small $13 Habitat he said in a disappointed voice "okay I will get that one". I knew he wanted to spend the rest of his money on the larger one. He also go a remote control inch worm Hex Bug. He has been playing with them ever since. I like that he can use his imagination and build the bugs Habitat how he wants it.

Hello boys and girls!! How are you all this weekend!!!?? Well, I meant to post this yesterday and totally forgot!!!

Christmas is 3 months away!!!!

so, this is when I think we should all reaaallly get serious with those lists if you are not already!!!! At this point, our stores are about to begin the onslaught!! Our Hobby Lobby has had trees and decor out for a bit now...the others will soon be following...so, if you haven't started your shopping yet, you need to at least have your lists organized and narrowed down!! We have about 12 weeks and for those who get paid twice a month, that's only 6 or 7 paychecks left!!! I hope you are all enjoying out thread still and the newbies are getting motivated and finding some good ideas!!!

I am hoping to be done by Halloween so I can enjoy decorating and school parties and such. Maybe even get in a weekend get-away with DH that doesn't involve fighting crowds or stalking a certain toy/game. I have gotten soooo much done this year (and that includes doing my MIL and my mom's shopping for the kids gifts too LOL so they REALLY get to enjoy the season!)

As far as paychecks, I get paid ONCE A MONTH ... yup, the state of TN is in the stone age (it is a paper check too LOL) So that means I have......oh, let's not talk about how many checks I have left until Christmas :headache: Thank goodness DH gets paid weekly

Oh Shawna, you're just trying to scare me! HA!

I have managed to purchase one gift. I ordered some stuff from Disney online and got him a sweatshirt on sale. I have a nice list going that I keep in the notes on my phone. That way if I'm out shopping, I can keep an eye out for things. My mother busted in on my plans however. She and the girls were shopping and DD7 found a DS bag/case that she wanted. It was on my list to get her. My mom went back the next day and got it to give her for Christmas!! I think I'm going to end up getting her the camera and maybe some AG stuff. We're going light this year (so I say now) because we're planning a Europe trip for March. Might get them stuff for that trip that I'd have to buy anyway! Like a good jacket that's warm/waterproof and lightweight!

We usually go shopping for the girls on Veteran's Day since both DH and I have it off, but they have school. We'll probably hit the Mall of America - and the American Girl store!
It's close enough to Christmas so there's lots of sales, but I don't like shopping much after Thanksgiving - especially on weekends - too crowded!!

Sheree~ did it work? did I scare you? huh? huh?!!!! Okay..well, if I did then it worked!! LOL!!! ha!!!! I am sooooo jealous of your European vacation!!!! Take me with you!!!!!! I know you are all going to have such a good time...and yeah, I can see where you want to keep Christmas small this year.....especially with the DVC...I nnnnneeeeeed to order some AG stuff...but am waiting for mid-October!!

So what is on people's list for the g-parents? I always do a homemade something from the kids for all the g-parents and it's different every year. We're going on the 13th Christmas w/ kids and honestly I'm out of ideas! I was thinking maybe homemade snow globes but really that's not something each kid can make and it's not really age appropriate for the younger ones.

My mom heads out of the country by the end of Oct and won't be back until late spring so I want to have the kids finish their gifts, wrap them and make sure Nana has them to bring with her overseas. I really can't fail on this mission because she's going to be all alone w/o anyone for Christmas and that just sucks.

So any ideas?? Pretty please! :goodvibes :santa:

Our walmarts got in pillow pets! My ds 7 wanted the dolphin so bad and walmart had it!! So we grab it up real quick!
