Christmas Shopping 2010

Usually by now I've started Christmas shopping. But alas! I have bought not one Christmas present yet! I have saved an okay amount of money for presents though. And I also plan to buy for a bunch of family/friends at WDW when we go in Nov. But it feels weird not having at least a couple gifts stashed away on the closet.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Toys R Us is having their Geoffrey's B-day sale 9/19-9/25 with a ton of Buy 2 get the 3rd free stuff including squinkies, zoobles, LPS, Thomas wooden trains, Lego construction sets, Disney Princes and Fairies dolls, playsets and dress-up. I got the flyer in today's paper so you an probably check online to see if they have it up yet.

Yes sorry it is a kohls toy only. If you go to there sight and type in hideaway hollow they will come up. My DH was impressed with this also. For 100.00 I got everything plus most of that was x2. I got older dd the pink house and younger dd the green one plus each the house addtion. All the extra's like the car and extra figures I bought 2 of. So really 50.00 for each of the girls and there is around 8 items each. I typed the wrong info in my PP post. I have disney on the brain can you tell. LOL Plus I earned 30.00 in kohls cash but I gave it to my mom since we will be in Disney when it is time to redeme them.

Found them ~ thanks!

That does sound like a great deal! I am trying to decide whether to pull the trigger & just order them online! I think that my DD would like these & they are much cheaper than the Calico Critters that she was eyeing up at one store:lmao:

Did one of the houses look "cuter" than the other? I am thinking that we don't really need both, although the price does make it tempting:)

I would only buy one of the houses and one of the matching addtions if it is just for one dd. I have 2 so that is why I spent so much. I did have to come home and order some of the pieces the store didn't have. I like the pink house better but they are pretty much the same. My girls are 5 and my younger dd will 3 shortly after Christmas. But the love this type of stuff. Mine would love the calico critters but we are trying not to over spend this year. I think the house alone was 75.00.

:welcome: to our new shoppers!!! congrats on all the sales and thinks checked off your lists!!! Do you know what today is?

99 DAYS til Christmas!:santa::yay:

So...for those of you doing a weekly Christmas budget, that means about 13 weeks... keep up the good work!!;)

I started my shopping back in July but havent done to much yet. I honestly do not know what my kids want. My girls are 17 and 14 in Dec. and my son is 7. My son wants a real golden retriever but cant talk dh into that one right now. The girls dont want anything or so they say. So far, I bought a book series dd (almost 14) has checked out several times from our library to re-read and got my neices and nephews covered. I would love ideas for teenage girls- I really hate to give them just money. We do not spend a huge amount on Christmas gifts but dd 14 will have a bday in dec too and I will need gifts for that. Oh for her bday I found a copy of the velveteen rabbit- it was one of her favorite books when she was little- thought it might be a fun gift, certainly not a main gift but a gift nonetheless.

Our big, and I do mean big, gift this year is our 9 day trip to Disney! We are so excited!

I ordered Lanie when QVC had her for a deal the other day for my DD7. I need to order Elizabeth Cole soon for my DD9, but I have to wait a few weeks. I really hope she doesn't go on backorder or sell out before we get her. I wish they would quit retiring all the dolls I love! :rotfl:

I don't know what else they are getting, though they have been repeatedly warned that our present is our trip, so only santa will be bringing things, so there will be much less under the tree than in past years. I hope they aren't dissapointed! I try and make sure they know Christmas is about alot more than presents, but they are kids, so presents sure are a highlight!

DD1 is going to get a table and chairs and maybe some Weebles and Little People things.

I am trying to decide which to get DH, the Kindle, the Nook or the Reader. He leaves for work for months at a time for work and has to live in hotels and he is a big reader. I think it would be way easier than having to buy and lug around a ton of books. Between the 2 of us we have almost 2000 books! Anyone love or hate any of those? I would love and appreciate any help!

I can't believe Christmas is only 98 days away!

Wanna know a secret? We put our lights up on the house last night! :rotfl2: My husband is leaving today and won't be home until we leave for Disney on Dec 12th, so it was either now or never. Oh what our neighbors must think of us! Yup we are the trashy neighbors, but who cares, I get my lights up this year and I didn't think I would.

Oh, the velveteen rabbit! I loved that book too. How cute!

I also need to order Felicity before it's too late. I was all ready to order her for next week, but last night my check engine light came on in my truck  Hopefully just a sensor or something. That's going to set me back!

I'd love to hear views on this too. I am waffling between an ereader and the ipad for DH. I was originally looking at the Kindle BUT then I priced the ebooks...it appears they are only about $2 cheaper than the hardcovers?! What?! We have SIX floor to ceiling bookcase that we custom built for our home because of our book collection - We really like to read. I was thinking if the books were fairly discounted it would be a good deal so he could buy the junk (ha ha! Seriously, he reads middle of the earth stuff a lot) on the eReader. He never re-reads them and I don't read them at all so that seemed feasible. That would free up room for books we both love on our shelves. But, I'm sorry, if I'm spending that much I'm getting something pretty for my library! He can always trade the ones I don't read in at a used bookstore if he chooses.

Graciesmom~ That is great about the lights!! We will be putting ours up the weekend after Halloween...I want it alllll finished before vacation so Iwon't have to do ANYTHING when we get back!! Tree will be up, presents bought (maybe wrapped under tree, not sure yet), lights up, our baking stuff bought...ds14s bday....I want to finish it all!! So, hats off to you for getting it done!!!!!

Our big gift is our trip to Disney. :santa: Our original plan was Christmas week but I changed it. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how miserable we would all be with those sort of crowds. Now we are going earlier in the month. And I can go to MVMCP!! Wooot!!

My older 2 decided they want money from their GPs this year to spend in Disney instead of gifts. Looks like it may be a light present morning on Christmas morn but WHO CARES??? We are going to DISNEY WORLD!! :rotfl:

I bought the Kindle about 2 years ago so I probably have one of the original ones. I loved it at the time. However, we now have an IPad and I LOVE reading on it. So much clearer and easier on the eyes. But, like I said, I do have the first generation of Kindle. The newer version may be better.

Took advantage of needing a little Retail Therapy today! ;) Bought the cats a new bed, DH a car charger for his new phone and a hummingbird feeder for my mom. The cat bed and feeder were on clearence :thumbsup2
Yesterday I purchased some material to make the cats some toys, so much cheaper!! :hippie: and a Wii remote charger for the family.
Know I also want to get DH a weather station, well ok, he gave me the idea :rotfl:
DS 18 just got engaged so that changes things... and DS 16, well if he doesn't shape up it will be a very simple Christmas for him!

Happy Shopping!:santa:

Well I went to kohls last night and got alot of my shopping done since my mom got the 30% coupon in the mail. I was going to get the girls my little pony mermaid poneyville stuff (now my parents are getting them that). But saw these Sleepy Hollow sets from fisher price and my girls will love these. They were only 15.00 for the bigger houses and all the assecories were under 8.00. My girls would much rather have this type of stuff. Plus they are really good about putting there toys away in there bins. I never lose pieces because my girls know that every thing has it's individual bin or carring case.

So this is my new list

DD 5
ZAMBI
Lps Triplets
Fur Real Frenzie carrier my mom bought them the rest of the pieces
Fur Real Frenzie spotted dog
Jessie doll from Kohls sale
Sleepy hollow house and all the assecories this could be Christmas in it self it was only 60.00 for all 9 pieces

DD 2

Zambi
LPS Triplets
Frenzie Carrier
Frenzie dog
Jessie doll
Sleepy Hollow stuff

Still need to get
LPS rescue Center x2
LPS doll and figure X 2
Each a leapster game
Still need to get more craft stuff ,books and puzzles. The love this stuff and it keeps them busy.

Dh gave me the :thumbsup2 to get the girls a pillow pet. So dd 5 wants a hippo but I have no idea what to get dd2. I think the pig is cute. They had these at toysrus last week. They had them at our local walmart but they didn't have the one my dd wants. I am going to take of the extra LPS triplets off the list. I'm really trying to cut back this year but it is so hard. I love Christmas. I did get dd 2 5 outfits from oldnavy baby sale going to put those away for Christmas also.

It's 8:30am on a Sunday morning and I just finished a TON of my Christmas shopping! :cool1:

Thanks to this thread I knew Toys-R-Us sale was starting this morning, so I did a little pre-shopping yesterday and figured out which Lego sets they had available that were on my kids' lists. So, this morning I was able to get 3 lego sets (1 free - saved $35) and 3 Star Wars Mighty Beanz sets (1 free - saved $6) and I pre-ordered 2 Pillow Pets (not on sale, but I spent enough for free shipping)

I don't know if the Mighty Beanz or Pillow Pets will be that hard to find, but I like the idea of checking them off my list!

I also took advantage of the last day of Free Shipping if you spend $75 at Lego.com. There were 2 sets I haven't found anywhere else - Pizza Planet truck and City Advent Calendar- that I ordered at lego.com plus some of the new mystery Minifigures for 1.99. If anyone is ordering from lego.com, use promotion code MX09 for a free minifigure keychain if you spend $35.

Happy Shopping Everyone! Have a Great Week. :)

Sounds like you've made a lot of progress!!!:thumbsup2

I found a few wii games on toyrus that I could get. My SIL bought us a wii for Christmas last year with Toy Story Mania and a High School Musical sing it. I found Up on sale later in the year. So that is all we have other than sports that came with it. So getting a few more games for Christmas would be good.

Then I started looking at Legos. My DS(9) was never crazy about them-enjoyed them ok but never asked for any. Santa has been putting small sets (like the $4 ones) in their stockings for a few years. My DD(7) has been very interested in them lately-using all those small sets to make bigger things. I was thinking of getting her something bigger for Christmas. I was thinking of the airplane but I think DS would really like that one too. So do I just order the plane from Amazon and give it to DS or do I do the buy 2 get 1 free from toysrus. I also have DD(11) who is mildly interested in Legos. Don't know how she would feel if other 2 get them and she didn't.

I don't know if I want 3 large sets in the house or if I should take advantage of the toysrus deal and get 3 $20ish ones. I guess I just can't decide which ones to get. We do have very limited storage so that is a issue. My girls room has no closet, DS's room has very small closet, we have 1 closet on the first floor, a wet basement and no attic or garage.

DS & younger DD also have birthdays in January so I guess I could give them Legos on their bdays and skip older DD.

I had foot surgery on my right foot 7 weeks ago so I'm still not up for much retail shopping and just made an appointment to get my other foot done 11/22-the Monday before Thanksgiving so I better start making some decisions.

I have already ordered my youngest a bunch of Schleich toys. She loves those and does a good job putting them away after she plays with them.

I think I'm going to get older DD a new Nintendo as hers isn't working well. I need to decide if I should go the DSi or DSi XL.

I really need to get moving on all this! Plus I want to make other family member gifts and the kids all want me to make them Halloween costumes and this is the crazy busy time at work and my boss's boss just tore his achillle's tendon so things will be even crazier.

I just got back from the TRU buy2 get1 sale. I think I am finished shopping for DD4:thumbsup2 I bought way too much, but that's how it usually goes for Christmas around here! I didn't find anything for DS6. He is more into educational & art things. Also, he gets really obsessed with things for a while & then his interest wanes. Right now it is Toy Story and geography:) I am sure something will change before Christmas though, so he is more of my last-minute purchase guy.

I sold a ton of the kids old stuff on ebay, so I felt OK about using some of that money to buy this stuff for DD:

- Calico Critters (6 family sets) - my mom is getting her the house
- LPS 2 smaller houses & 1 set of 16 pets
- 3 mini furreal (can't remember what they are called)
- 3 polly pockets
- 3 squinkie playsets
- 6 squinkie sets
- 3 disney princess things

I think I will have my mom or ILs get her a Leapster & games.

It took forever, but it was a fun shopping trip:rotfl:

:cool1:We finished Christmas shopping for our DS5 last night!:cool1: It's bad when you finally get a "date night" with DH and all you do is shop or look for the kids!!!!!:lmao: Now we just need a good deal on a laptop for DD11. Any ideas?:wizard:
