Christmas Shopping '09

Well....I really thought I was done and have not, consequently, posted in awhile however...I am rethinking that!!! The biggest thing is dh just lost his job so I really don't know how that will affect us the rest of this year. The good thing is that my shopping is basically done and if I don't purchase another thing we will still have a really fantastic holiday (one of the reasons I have always loved purchasing year around...you never really feel the pinch on the wallet!). The other fantastic thing is that my bank debit card gives $$ back and they double the amount if you utilize their services. I was able to purchase a plane ticket plus $50 towards another to go down south for the holiday. Last year we didn't go so I am excited to see my siblings, their kids, my cousins and their kids for xmas. That makes it all worth it!! We only see each other once a year, if that, so it will be wonderful!!

Anywho, I am expecting some AG items to arrive at my house this week. My girls have gotten dolls the last 2 xmases. This year I told them both I and Santa will be done purchasing the dolls...they will have to work and save if they want anymore. I purchased a couple of outfits and $25.00 gcs from AG that they can either save for a doll or can use towards an outfit. Now I am thinking that I am going to buy 2 Our Generation horses for the AG dolls. I am also thinking that I might purchase 2 Our Generation Wardrobes for the AG dolls. The prices are so much better than the actual AG items.

That is really it!! I will get some books, maybe magazine subscriptions for both, and ipod docking stations with clock/ radio for both. A really good deal on a laptop around Thanksgiving would prompt me to purchase one for them to share....but that is it!:cheer2:

I wrapped some gifts today. Feels good to be getting it all together! :santa:

I'm so excited! I hit Toys R Us today and got just about all my shopping done! The best part was that it was all on sale!!!!

For DD I got...
Tag Jr & 2 books for it
Disney Princess Sparkle Baby- Ariel
Tink costume & shoes
Tink doll (like a barbie)
And because I spent $40 in Tink stuff I got a free Tink lantern

and I also got 2 princess halloween costumes on clearance for $5 each!!!!! I'm not holding these for Christmas though, she's already playing with them :goodvibes

For DS I got...
Tag & 2 books for it
Leapster Star Wars Reading Game
Fisher Price Trio Wizards Castle

I even grabbed wrapping paper while I was there! :yay:

My *to buy* list is VERY short now! :woohoo:

Oh Kim! Good for you! Yep for $5 she should get it today!!!! I love Tink..dd doesn't like her so much....go figure?!
I think Target has their Wii games buy 2 get the 3rd free. I am gonna pm you.

I am finally well on my way to being just about finished. :cool1: Let's see.....

From Santa, DD6 is getting a new bike, at tabletop dry erase/chalkboard/paint easel with markers, chalk & paint, a veterinarian play set w/personalized drs. coat, a sheltie webkinz and the Hannah Montana movie & soundtrack. Stocking stuffers include a new umbrella, a tube of animal figurines and some Hello Kitty jewelry. :santa:

From mommy & daddy DD will get new Cmas PJs, Sponge Bob Sorry, A Fancy Nancy puzzle, two FN books and a FN dress up tutu.

Then she will get spoiled ROTTEN by both sets of grandparents (I've asked them to please cut down some.....)

DH is getting a few t-shirts, a sweatshirt and a Redskins Turvis Tumbler. I asked for a watch and a big chocolate colored snuggly blanket for the living room. We just bought a new house and so with new appliances and new flooring, we are doing a very small Cmas exchange between ourselves :)

Waiting for mom to give me a together gift idea for her and dad, but I suspect a new ceiling fan or lighting for their kitchen. They are doing some house updating. But got dad some t-shirts from JCP for $4.99 each. Just basic colors and the new Toby Keith CD. Mom wanted some new jeans so those are ordered.

Niece and Nephews are done with lots of toys and some clothes.

Grandma is all wrapped up with a new outfit from Kohl's and a winter garden flag.

In-laws are taken care of with some oversized oak TV trays. I still need to do their individual gifts of a pairs of sneakers for DFIL and perfums for DMIL.

Grandma-IL is getting a new phone and I still need to find some sheets for she'll get a gift card to JCP or Kohls.

DSIL & Fiance - still deciding on their couple gift.....ceiling fan, deep fryer or 4slice toaster.

Still need to do teacher gifts as well but those will probably be gift cards and baking. I have been talked into shopping with a friend on Black Friday so I think I'll save what I have left for then and see how it goes. I have NEVER shopped on BF, but friend is recently seperated and we've been enjoying reconnecting (we grew up on the same street together since birth and I just recently moved back to VA and we live about 10 minutes from each other and our kids r the same age), so I told her I was game. I think I'm CRAZY, but it will be fun :)

I am going to start working on my Cmas cards and cooking/baking lists this weekend and have been clipping coupons on Sundays, but so far there really haven't been any coupons I've needed :(. I am hosting Cmas dinner, so I need to get prepared for about 20 people :scared1:

I think I will start decorating the week of Thanksgiving since I usually do that on BF. At least getting my dishes down from the attic and washed and maybe my inside gardland hung around all my doorways and banisters. I also need to get on making my bows for my gardland on my front porch. SOOOO excited to have a house with a porch to go up with garland.

Whew......I'm further along than I thought. Feels good :thumbsup2

Maybe this was posted, but wanted everyone to know that Aldi's has some great Disney gifts right now. I got dd4 a Cinderella "Barbie" like doll with a matching horse (she loves horses) and dd7 an Hannah Montana keyboard. They also have the HM guitar--which we got last year and she loves!

They also had stand-alone princess "barbies" and smaller fairy dolls. There were also larger princess dolls that look a bit like the princess babies (maybe that's what they were---we have two of those, so I didn't look closely).

They also had a bunch of "cars" stuff--but honestly, I didn't pay much attention since I have two girs.

Yep..you are way along on that shopping! Good for you!! I love being all finished early...I feel behind this year!! I was going to finish this last week, but kids got so sick...then me...so nothing got done! Well, there is always this week!!

My first Christmas gift for a kid should arrive today. It is an electric guitar for my 16yo son. I also have received a body pillow for my mom from QVC. I ordered a bass guitar for my 17yo son but it is on backorder for a few weeks. Hopefully it will arrive by mid November. Now I just have to get cracking on things for my 3yo daughter. She is so complicated... a total girly girl who loves animals and cars. LOL

What are your thoughts on the Leap Frog Tag reader system?

Haven't done the reader system...but I love all the Leap Frog stuff, so I am sure it'll be fun.My kids loved the Leapster,..dd is 6 and she still plays with her..she got it 3 Christmases ago. (Or was it 4?)..anyway.. they are great!
Hope your stuff comes in quickly!!

I hope you are all feeling better Disney Mommy 3. Being sick stinks. My 2 girls are home today with slight cold symptoms, but didnt want to risk sending them to school.

I ordered my girls the Our Generation bathtub from Target, for 16 bucks and got free shipping. I also got a to me from me gift of the Wii Fit package deal they had at Target. I shouldn't spend the money on myself, but I did! My husband keeps telling me to buy more stuff for myself, so I did and I am not going to feel guilty. (well maybe a little guilty);)

We got our dd the Leap Frog Tag Reader when she was 4 and she loved it. Now that she is almost 6 and can read the books herself she does not use it much anymore. There are coupons for the Tag Reader and books on the Leap Fog website as well.

My dd really wants the Disney Princess Vanity that is also a keyboard. It is $89.99 so I hope it goes on sale. I believe Target will have $10 coupon in their toy book, and I know Toys R Us has it for $69.99 in their toy book. This is her last gift that I need to get.

I still have a few things for the boys but I will wait until Black Friday.

MY DD's will be getting there presents on our way to Disney, as we will be arriving 12 midnight CHristmas day. One has asked for an American Girl Doll and my other daughter loves to shop. So giftcards that she can use at Disney.. This trip is costing us a fotune so we will definately make sure they have tons of fun.
Christmas day at Epcot. Can't wait. :cloud9:

Oh Thanks!! I do feel better today...just that darn sore throat!!! No appetite really either...of course, that can be a good thing with all this Halloween candy screaming at me all day!! LOL

Dreaming Pink...which AG doll are you getting?

Illness is going around here too! Luckily, it is just bronchitis and the croup...none of us have sprouted snouts or tails. :lmao:

I am gearing up for a fun shopping day on Thursday. I can get 40% off my local museum's gift shop and they have tons of cool stuff. DS will be getting a firehouse lego set and maybe a playmobil pyramid set. :cool1:

We have the tag reader and love it. DS is 3 and plays with it almost daily.

That playmobil pyramid set looks really cool, my DS that likes to play with things like that sadly is outgrowing them, otherwise I would definitely buy that!

I thought it looked really cool! Even though he is only 3 he is fascinated with King Tut. My dilemma is he says he wants the pyramid and the Geotracks train. He is only getting one. I want him to pick the pyramid, but today when we talked about it he said he wanted the train. Oh well, there is plenty of time for him to change his mind.

You can't go wrong with the Geotracks, either. We have it and the nice thing about it is that we can keep adding to it at birthdays and other Christmases. My 10yo still plays with "his" that was really passed down to two younger brothers since he got it 6 years ago. I guess I'm not helping much, lol, but I did want you to know it wouldn't be so bad if he chooses the train.

My 3 year old loves his GeoTrax also. It is really cute, and mom gets excited when she finds a new piece they dont have.

I feel like I have been on the computer all day today, I've been doing some online shopping. I got all 5 kids generic "snuggies" from Lakeside, the younger boys will get a Cars and Toy Story one, the older ones just get plain colored ones.

We have a tradition where when each child wakes up Christmas morning there is a wrapped book in their bed (they know that's from me), they are allowed to unwrap it and read in bed until a reasonable hour (usually like 5am). I got an email from Scholastic with a 15% off code and free shipping over $25 so I bought 3 39 clues books (which were on sale, too), the Encyclopedia of Immaturity Volume 2 and a Klutz book on card tricks. I will probably get DD a couple more books (she's an avid reader) and I still need some for the younger 2 boys, but it's a start.
