Christmas Shopping '09

Wow posting that 18 weeks really puts it into perspective!

I knocked one thing off my list this weekend- a DVD player for the car ride.:thumbsup2 We're using it now so it's not really going to be a Christmas gift anymore but I'm checking it off anyway!

So far I have gotten the two big gifts out of the way. A wooden Melissa and Doug train set for James and an 8gb Ipod Touch for Cat... Still need to do more but its a start.

-Becca-

yay for all of you with things checked off your lists!!!:thumbsup2 I really think the kids are getting a Wii...sounds super great for everybody. We can all enjoy it, they can all have individual games. Each one will still get gifts, but this will be the biggie!!!! This will be good since we are going to Disney before Christmas this year.....We can still enjoy a little disney with that TSMM game once we are home!!!

Well- I was making good headway with my x-mas shopping... but that has to be put on hold now... ugh! DH's hours at work have been cut and now I am lucky to pay the bills! :sad1: Some actually have not been paid... grrr.

I dunno- I think the kids are going to be fine either way. I already told them it will be a smaller x-mas due to going to Disney in sept anyway. (Thank God the trip is already paid for and we have free dining! :woohoo:) But I still have to get DD's bike- she isn't too picky though, so it should be ok. And DS will only be 1, he won't know the difference.

Good thing I started early! At least we will all have something under the tree! :santa:

I am so sorry you are having a hard time:hug: i wish Wal-Mart had not stopped offering Lay-a-Way...that helped sooooo many people!! Me included..if not for anything but convenience!! But, I wonder if with the economy like it is, they are reconsidering bringing it back. We always get our kids Wal-Mart bikes...they are great!!! Lots cheaper than TRU also!!!
maybe at Disney you can find a few things in their mark downs and sneak them home for their stockings? I am sure with people not buying as much at the parks, they have to have some stuff discounted!

Great idea on the discounted items at Disney! I may have to do a resort tour and look in all their shops! Can you say touring excuse? :goodvibes As for lay-away, the K-mart by us still has it! I am hoping they have a decent bike soon. She isn't too picky, thank God, but she really likes the Hannah Montana and Bratz bikes at walmart. Go figure! I still say by the next year she won't really like Hannah Montana anymore and then she will refuse to ride it.... i dunno, just my theory.

I think I have enough for her stocking already! I always have a bunch of random little crud for her laying around for prizes if she keeps her room clean for a week, or does really good on her report card, or does something out of the ordinary and just plain nice. That stuff alone should fill her stocking and more! :cool1: Glad I am a pack rat and that she is super easy to shop for!

DS will be a little more difficult shopping wise. Albeit, he won't know the difference, but he can't have just anything! He has to have age appropriate stuff that he can't eat, choke on or destroy too easily!

DH will get more Dale jr stuff I guess- not that he needs anymore.....

You think that is scary? My husband is paid once a month so only 4 paychecks til Christmas here! :scared1::eek:

OOOOHHHHH that is awful!! You must really have to stick to a budget, huh? If not, I would be a nervous wreck thinking I was going over!!!

So, faithful readers!! How many of you will be away from home on Christmas? At this point we will be home...my family can come here. We will just have returned on the 13th from Disney, so I doubt we will want to travel. My mom is 3 hours away, and I am sure she will ask if we would rather come up there, but hopefully dh will be as tired as me and say no. I am pretty sure we will do T-day here as well...that's what we've been doing in the past. With Christmas being on a Friday this year, they will probably come in that night, or Sat and then stay and go with us to church Sun and go home after lunch. That sounds reaaaaalllllly good to me! Ha!!!!
Have a great day and know that everytime I see TRU I think of ya'll!!!!:santa::lmao:

We will be home for Christmas. Usually we go to my parents' on Christmas day, and last year, since Santa brought a Wii, we got them to come to our house. Of course it's only 15 minutes away! LOL
It's just us, my parents and brother. Sometimes we get Dave's sister and husband on Christmas day, because they celebrate mostly on Eve. We usually have to work on the day of Eve, so we just have dinner and go to church. Read Twas the Night Before Christmas, watch A Christmas Story and put out the cookies!

We always stay home for x-mas. Although, we go to my mother's house too, but she only lives 30 minutes away! :goodvibes My step daughter will have to be driven to the airport day after x-mas- she has to be at her mother's house for a week during x-mas. She may stay an extra day this year, we have not decided. We will also have to find a way to deliver all the presents to my DH's family in NC this year too! Usually we go there a week or so before the holiday, but this year we just can't afford it. :sad1: Maybe some of them will visit us and we can have them deliver the rest of the presents. :confused3 I dunno otherwise. Most of it can be shipped easily, but we are getting his younger sister a big doll set. That might not be easy to mail. But we always like to go a little over board with his youngest sister. She is 14 and has Down Syndrome- add that to her severe diabetes and other problems, and we just think she deserves a really good x-mas. She goes through a lot day in and day out, so we like to give her something special! :santa:

We will be home for Christmas as well.

Xanphylus I am sorry you and your family are going through this; I hope he's able to get more hours soon.

Cinmell - OMG yes that is scary. :goodvibes I too would be a nervous wreck.

Well for the past 10 years I have been a member of our Credit Union's Christmas Club so I use that money to shop...:thumbsup2. The only problem is that we get the check 10/1; it's soooo hard for me to hold onto the money without spending it on something else before December roles around.

Thanks a bunch! :goodvibes It should pick up soon, they just always have a lull after summer for some reason. He works at Wrigley's- so everyone buy lots and lots of yummy gum!! :thumbsup2 Hopefully they will be back to full hours this next month! Please.......

My DS (twins) are 11 and both are airsoft boys. They want everything for the game the camo outfits, ammo vests, etc. They also love nerf so they are picking out every nerf item that they don't already have. Last year they both got laptops. We are leaving for Disney on Wednesday. I need to start shopping as soon as we get back!

You think that is scary? My husband is paid once a month so only 4 paychecks til Christmas here! :scared1::eek:

:scared1: That is my DH too...I hadn't figured the only 4 paychecks out yet.

I got my MIL a characture sketch of the 4 grandkids when they were all together this summer. FIL will get a DVD basket. (Will start looking for DVD deals)

My Mom is 84 so I will get her a gift card to get her hair done. (I do that for her b-day, mother's day, and Christmas) so that is her 3 perms a year.

My sisters and I don't exchange, but I do buy for the nieces and nephews and there are 3 of each.

My DH and my 2 DD, I have no ideas for. :scared1:

Thanks for putting this into perspective.

You are doing great! Good idea for your mom! My grandpa is 80 and there is really nothing he wants/needs. you know how they are at that age...don't spend you $$ on me.....sorta thing! Hopefully we can help get you some ideas for your hubby and daughters!

Well, how are you all this morning? This is the last Friday of August..can ya'll believe that? Time flies doesn't it? September is a weird month around here. For those of you in our area or coastal...big hurricanes like to visit then! I know we have had some doozies here in July and August,,, but not like Sept. I am grateful that we haven't had anything really damaging anywhere this year!...YET!!! Ha! I know they are saying Danny is going to be a storm to watch...so all of you on the East Coast, take care! Keep us posted if it's in your area.

On to Christmas talk! I found one little game this week that my dd liked. It's a domino game with the Princesses and it comes in a pink/purple little case...kinda looks velvet-y!! DS10 has, of course, found maaaannnny more Legos to put on his list!! DD is still back and forth on those darn AG!!! I know I will get her clothes for the 2 she already has, but as far as a new doll, I am not thinking so till she decides for sure. Other than that, I am at a loss for her!! I know I do want to get her some Disney cds for her little cd player in her room. She has the Disney lullabies and some others...she loves playing them and dancing (ballet, usually) to them.

Of course, I am still pondering the Wii. I will have to figure out how to rid us of the PS2 without them reallllly knowing why! I know my ds13 knows about it, but that's okay..just wanted to kinda surprise the other 2 with it. Thinking aloud here....

Well, today is the update!

17 Weeks :santa:

17 weeks Oh My!

We're on Danny watch here. Hopefully we should just be getting some rain out of it. I don't want the winds they say we might get. :sad2: We live in the woods so I don't want any trees in my living room!

Three words of advice... GET THE WII!!! You won't regret it! ;) Our PS2 is sitting in the closet at the moment. At some point I need to sell it on Craigslist or eBay.

We started staying home after we had our 3rd baby, it just got to be too stressful so we told all of our family that everyone is welcome at our house and we fix a big meal and whoever shows up is fine, but we aren't leaving home.

I got all of the kids' pajamas except one DS. I ordered them from Kohl's last Sunday when I saw them in the ad. I even got lucky and found a Snoopy pair for DD, she'll love them.

I saw that Walmart has NFL long sleeve t-shirts in their ad this week for $12, but my Walmart didn't have any Bengals ones so I'm going to ask MIL to check hers for me, that would be a great gift for DH. The website didn't have any either.

I'm still working on the kids little by little. I got DS5 a nintendo ds and I found out what game he wants to go with it, I couldn't pull him away from a display at Walmart with The Legendary Starfy in it so I'll be watching for sales on it.
