Christmas Shopping '09

:santa: Well I'm really underway in my shopping. For DD15 I got her the Sims 3 for her computer (just bought in May). We also got her a flatscreen for the new computer. She needs a new bat for softball and she wants some books and clothes as usual. It feels good to have some big items bought. For DD12 we got the rockstar game for psp. She wants her bedroon redone and a new computer so I'll do one of those. We haven't decided which yet :) For DD8 I got her a steamer trunk (pink of course) for next summers camp. She's so excited to finally be old enought to go! We also got her the Tinkerbelle game for ds and I got her a motorized scooter and helmet. She's easy for the rest. She wants pink uggs (i say fuggs or fake uggs) she won't care if they're a not the real deal.

I feel great having a dent made in my shopping! I plan on wrapping the gifts I have next week. It is SO much easier to wrap a few at a time, instead of a massive wrapping session in December. I also bought the Christmas cards and I'm looking thru my summer photos for a good one of all the girls to add. I usually address them in September. I will also start thinking about the menu's for my Holiday parties. I'll buy some of the nonperishables (a few each shopping trip) so it won't seem like a huge amount of $ all at once. I guess that's where I stand. Happy shopping!!Happy Planning!!:santa:

I am lucky all my kids are really easy to buy for :) So what we do all threw the year is when we are out shopping or what ever we look at things that is on clearance or can get really cheap. So we shop all year around they forget what we buy so it works out great lol.But then on black friday things we couldnt find on sell we go out and get we usally end up spending 300 on all four of our kids and they everything a child could want. Had someone walk up to me last year on black friday and say they wish they was my kids cause of everything i had. I also like to give to toys for tots I want to know if there is something i can do with there old toys they dont play with because they are like new i dont want to just throw them away( things they grow out of and dont play with any more) i would like to give them to someone who needs them but toys for tots only takes new toys and i have no idea what to do with them. Have so many i dont know where to put them all some plzzzz give me a idea. Thank you :)

We take all of the still nice, but unused or unwanted toys books and movies to the homeless shelter in our small town. They can always use new things for the kids to play with, and we feel great giving them to someone in need. If you don't have a shelter, try a church or temple. I'm sure they could always use them in their nursery:)

This is what we do as well or take them to our church for needy families. :thumbsup2

Great ideas!! Hopefully I can buy food too on sale and my DH won't eat it before then!

Another great and thoughtful idea!! We have SO much stuff, I feel guilty getting them more!

I got a few more gifts out of the way. I was desk shopping this week for my 3 older kids and not having much luck in my low price range when I stumbled onto an amazing deal on the AAFES website (for military), I got 4 desks for $16.97 apiece!! Just simple ones, not computer ones, but I just needed them for the kids to do homework at. They're white and DS11 thought it looked girlie, I told him for that price we could pick up some black spray paint, he liked that idea.

For Christmas, they had iHome ipod dock alarm clocks on sale for $39.95 this week so I picked up 2 of those, one for DD and one for DS11. I also bought 2copies of The Legendary Starfy for ds for my DS5 and DS8. They were regular price, but it seems popular and I don't want to take a chance of not being able to find it later.

The Flick Trix finger bike thingies I ordered came today, they're pretty neat from an uncool mom perspective, lol. I think DS8 will like them.

Disney Mommy 3, I hope your head is feeling better. I think all we're going to do this weekend is go see Up at the $1.50 theater, we haven't seen it yet.

oops forgot to say I hope your headache is gone soon:flower3:
thanks...just took my 2nd dose of Excedrine and I am great!!

thank you!! And we love our local $1 movie too!! It was increaded to $2 last year!!! ha!!!

Love Mickey....do you have a local goodwill? Our church stopped taking stuff a while back because people were just giving junky and broken stuff....Goodwill takes everything!!! and they distribute to their other stores that need it !

okay I bought my first present today. Made me so happy. now to work on my list somemore.

I want to dig up my front flower bed this weekend but we shall see.

Yay!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I just dug up and redid my front little beds....got lots to do... but that was my first small project. Looks good...and I did it all by my lonesome! Well, not really my little munchkins helped me sweep and carry stuff!!!

Hurray!! I am further ahead of the game than I originally thought! I went through my gift closet and found all kinds of goodies I had forgotten about! :cool1: I found a paper recycling kit for DD, along with a write your own book kit and calendar making kit! :goodvibes Can you tell she is a craft kid? I also found some cool Disney shirts I bought and some Camp rock pjs. Now, if hubby's job will pick up with the hours, I can go ahead and get her bike out of the way and she is done people!!

I still don't know what to get DH...... I mean beyond new underwear and socks... hmmmm... :sad2: I really just don't know with him.

Anyone ever get a one year old a power wheel? Like the little one-not the big kid ones! They have one that is for 1-3 year olds, but I don't know. He LOVES cars and trucks and anything with wheels. He is already pushing himself around on his Tonka truck and he's only 11 months right now. He is a hoot!

I don't personally have the Bendaroos nor have I seen them, but I have a few friends on FB whose kids have them and they seem to be a HUGE hit! I believe there were some posts here on DIS after Cmas last year that they made a good gift too ;)

I was at Wal-Mart last night and they have a section "as seen on TV" toys...I can't justify 19.99, but they had smaller packs 100 for $5 and 200 for $10, I bought the $5 bc it was more reasonable deal. I also got a pack of blendy-pens for $5, now ya think my daughter will pipe down that Santa forgot them last year?!

xan~~ I think if it's ages 1-3, he will be fine...won't he be one by Christmas anyway? He will probably love it!!!! Hopefully your hubby will get more time...I know you are anxious about $$$$. I hope it picks up for you!!!!

Hi I'd like to join this thread...My oldest has just decided that she wants an American Girl Doll...She's 5 and now her almost 3 yr old sister wants one too (because of the older one of course). What I'd like to do is buy them a bouncer house that fits in our basement...they're about 300.00 for the nice ones. I think it would be great cuz they could play but get a lot of exercise in while making them worn out. We end up inside a lot during the winter and I'm always looking for ways to wear them out. I can't do both the American Girl Dolls and the bouncer. Not sure what to do....

I did just see that QVC is going to have American Girl Dolls on Sept 12 th or 13th...Does that mean they are better deals? Any info would be helpful.

I've got two DDs - one is 6.5 and one is 8.5. Last year we got a Nintendo DS. They share it and all the games, even though each has gotten a game or two for gifts. Now they seem to fight over it more and more.
I'm contemplating buying another for the younger daughter. The older would keep the first one, still sharing games.
Would I be rewarding them for fighting? We told them from the beginning that it is for both of them. I hate having to buy 2 of everything, but sometimes I have to. I want them to know how to share and don't want to spend $100 for no good reason.
Help me out!

I've also decided we're going to get TSMM for Wii for Christmas.

I have to tell you, we buy almost two of everything...yes, it is a pain and costly too but my kids want to do the same thing at the same time!! Example, they don't use their ds lites often but typically it is on a car trip or plane trip when they do. To have to monitor how long one has it and then have them hand it over to the other is something I do not want to do. Same with ipods! It could be seen as rewarding them for fighting OR it could be seen as giving yourself a break...which is always needed, right?:thumbsup2

Holy Cow!! skip the sharing!:lmao: I wouldn't do that with my boys, just because they are far enough apart that when they were younger it wouldn't have worked. The older one would have had "older toys". I don't know about the Nintendo DS....if you bought with the understanding of them sharing. Maybe they could do some extra chores or work and family could pitch in and buy their own?:confused3

As far as the AG dolls...what if you bought the bitty twins and they could split those. they could tell you which one they like and maybe they wouldn't pick the same one!!! I have a friend that did that and one wanted a blond girl and the sister wanted the blond boy. So, that worked out! Not sure about the QVC thing.

Thanks for the DS advice. I was thinking it would be good for them to each have one for traveling. Of course, we're traveling three weeks BEFORE Christmas this year! Everything I think of is going to be an early gift!!

I guess TSMM for Wii can wait. And if I get DD8 a CD player that could wait.
Oh the lists that one must make to be organized!!
I have been making lists all week. I put a lot of them on my iPhone Notes, which is so handy!!

Hi ladies...I have made a little more progress on my Christmas shopping yesterday and today. Yesterday we hit our local Ross and they had some great stuff on clearance. Not only did I treat myself to a new comforter set and pillows on clearance...;), but I also got...four sets of twin sheets all under $10(we are moving my dd into a big girl room for Xmas. I also snagged two Little Einsteins 4 game games ($2 each), a logic puzzle for my DD ($2)and Princess baby carraige($10) for my niece.
Then today we went down to the big Disney outlet and hit a huge sale...all clearance extra 40% off...I got my DD (and a few girls on my list) the Disney Princess banks for only $6 each!!! I have been eyeing htese for over two months. The one think I didnt buy (not on sale) that I am regretting was a princess pretend make up and hair set. I am hoping to get it on sale before Xmas.

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy Labor day!!
Steph
My favorite part of Christmas shopping is finding the deals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did order from Target. I got the starter kit (comes with 1 hamster) and a set of 2 hamsters. My shipping was $16 and it killed me to pay it but I figure I'd rather do that than go on a mad dash to find the things. Since they won't ship for a few weeks I'll keep my eye out and if I find them I'll just cancel the order.

The hamsters are the go go hamsters, or zhu zhu pets, ofr cepia go go pets. (I have no idea why they are called different things) Apparently they are going to be a big item this year. I'm sure they will be cute and played with the week between Christmas and New Years but then end up in the bottom of the toy bin. At least dd will fiinally get that pet hamster she wants

Yes, my boys do like Lego's. I got them a couple of the bigger Star Wars sets last year for Christmas, and my older ds has a few smaller sets but they play more with the Lego star wars people than the ships. There was a thread in the community board with a link to the sets of people so I'll probably get a few of those. The sets are so expensive and I hate to spend all that money if they really just want the little people in them. I know Amazon had them on sale last year before Christmas so you might want to check there for a good sale.

My DD wants these crazy things too, but NO one has them. I am signed up with both Target & Toys R Us to be notified when they are back in stock and the zhu zhu pets website says they are for release this fall (whatever that means), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I refuse to pay what people are asking on Amazon. Highway robbery!

DD asked for a Razor Powerwing scooter today as well. We were at a bbq and one of the kids had one so she pretty much rode it all day.

Hi-dee-ho shoppers!!
How are you all this morning? Well, we are getting some MUCH needed rain!!! Very thankful for that!!! Realized with a twinge this morning that today is again...9-11. God bless all those friends and families. I still can't believe we went through something like that! It's amazing what people can go through and still be strong! God Bless America!!!!
So....anyone decorating for fall yet? We have some stuff out front...little scarecrows, turkeys, stuff like that! the kids were just as excited about getting our fall stuff out as I was...we are ready for some weather relief!!!

Well, keep posting those great shopping deals and marking stuff off those wish lists!!! From today, Chrismas is in:
