I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere (sorry I'm new to the board) and this is the first time our family is going to Disney around Christmas, and first time on Disney property, we are staying at Boardwalk.

My question is can you go to the different resorts to check out the different Christmas displays and is there a list somewhere of what specifically is set up at each one.

I'm specifically interested in the gingerbread display, and my dad thought he heard somewhere that you can eat a bit of it, is that true?? Just thought I would see if someone has a list of them, and I thought you could visit them, even if you are not staying at that resort, but I just wanted to check that out.

Thanks,
Kristin

Yes you can go to any of the resorts and just look around, grab a bite to eat etc. The gingerbread house is in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and is set up as a shop and you cannot eat any part of it, the most you can do is smell it!!!! :) There is normally a gingerbread house in the food court next to the American pavillion in Epcot as well. There isn't a list (or at least I don't think so) of what is in each resort but generally the ones not to miss are in the GF and The Wilderness lodge. The WL just lends itself perfectly for that Christmassy feel with all its dark wood and big fire. Have a fabulous time, Oh how I wish I was there also:)

The deluxes are the most elaborate. It is easy to do the monorail loop, then go back to MK and go to WL.

Take the boat from DHS or Epcot and do the BC/YC/YC.

AKL is also good, but somewhat isolated so it best to combine with an ADR.

As PPs have said, each of the Deluxe resorts has a spectacular Holiday display. There are gingerbread pieces at GF and CR. BW and BC have chocolate show pieces. The WL and AKL have amazing trees. The YC has mini-city display. The Swan also has a chocolate display. All of the displays are is the resort's lobby, so you can't miss them.

There are little store/stands at the resorts that sell Holiday-themed snacks. So you can buy gingerbread cookies. I am not sure if you were asking, but they do not let you touch or sample the displays themselves.

The chocolate gingerbread carousel at the BC is wonderful and they sell gingerbread cookies, houses and my favorite is the kit to make the gingerbread house ($20). The gingerbread recipes at the resorts are all different so it's fun to buy a cookie from each that sells them and taste the difference!

You can't eat the Grand Floridian's gingerbread house, but they sell cookies there (including ones shaped like the shingles on the house).

Yes, you can definitely visit the resorts :). As others have said, the GF has the gingerbread house which is really cool to look at, but you can also buy cookies and other goodies from there :goodvibes. All of the resorts have great decorations with little touches that make it special to that particular resort, but our favorite (and IMO not to be missed) is the WL. The WL has such a homey feel and is absolutely beautiful with the tree in the center of the lobby next to the huge fireplace with rocking chairs around it :cloud9:. But I would also make sure to visit the BC/YC as they have beautiful displays as well. Have a great trip......Disney at Christmas time is awesome :santa:.
