Christmas Reservations - Timing & Places

Hello.

I was supposed to be in Disney this weekend. However my DH's company told him to cancel his vacation because they wanted him to work. So, instead of feeling really bad (which I did yesterday when I had to cancel everything), I figured I'd start planning something new.

I was thinking of visiting for Christmas (I never have been). This year is out of the question so I was thinking for 2009. How far in advance can you make room reservations for the holiday season?

We have normally stayed at Moderate (Caribbean Beach) to Deluxe (Beach Club) but I'm wondering if there are any other resorts that are really special at Christmas time that we would enjoy more. Epcot is probably our favorite park.

Also, I believe that there is a Mousefest event during December. Does anyone know what this does to the crowd levels? Based on all the postings, I know the attendance between Christmas and New Years is off the charts. However, if Mousefest adds a lot of people as well, I'd probably want to avoid that week too.

We went last Christmas week, and just decided a week ago to go again this Christmas week. Dh and I are teachers so it is the only time except for the summer that we can go - and the summer is way to hot for me because I get heat induced migraines! We are going back to POR and really enjoyed it there.

I'm not going to tell you that it's not busy because it was, but we went early and took breaks in the afternoon. The crowds there didn't bother me so much because everyone there was in a good mood - it's the holidays and Disney, a perfect combo!

We have 3 boys 10, 5, and 5, and they are sooo excited to go back! (but I think I am the most excited of all!)

I am very excited for you. When do you normally begin your reservation process? I want to make sure I give myself enough time next year.
