Christmas question

I guess I will stand alone here. I think your Mom is right. You are with him 4 months and he practically lives with you and your child? Sorry but he should be doing a lot more for your child if you think enough of him that he is spending almost every night at your home. No he is not a step father but he obviously is something if he shares in you daily life. Sorry but I think your Mom is right. It also doesn't matter if she only got him one gift. She is a child. JMHO.

I think one is fine. After four months, especially. You don't want your DD to think things are all serious and then maybe break up (sorry, but 4 months is early yet IMHO). That sends her a mixed message. After things officially get serious he can be more involved.

He spends almost every night there! I think that things already seem pretty serious to the child. JMHO.

I think your mother should stop worrying about and commenting on details like that. And I think you should stop worrying about your mother's opinion on details like that.

I agree but she is my mom. ;)

MouseHouse, I see your point, as well as my mom's, but I still think one gift from him is appropriate.

Robin, I know everyone says this about their relationship but I am 99.9999% sure I'm spending the rest of my life with this man. DD obviously knows that. He's there all the time. She has even told me that she can see how much in love with me he is by the way he looks at me, brushes my hair from my face and all the other small things he does.

He doesn't discipline DD, as he shouldn't, but she does listen to him when he asks her to do something. They are very fond of each other. One day they were sitting at the dinner table talking about school. DD told me they were bonding. :) He's a neat freak which has actually inspired her to keep her room a little cleaner. We have a long way to go with that though.

We are technically not family, but we are "family", KWIM?

Read all the replies...and I, too, think one gift is fine. To expect or think there should be more is greedy...IMO. She's YOUR daughter, so your thoughts are all that matter :)
