This year my family (which is quite large) has agreed to do homemade presents among the adults as we have some crafty people in our family and Christmas in my family was becoming so much about the money and material things it was losing the person touch so we're putting it back in! So I am doing gift baskets full of various homemade items I have the women all sorted out, I'm hand embroidering handkerchiefs, recipe boxes (we're so bad in my family asking around for recipes every few days so I thought all those must haves I'd put in one place for everyone), homemade candles and bathbombs, some baking and homemade chocolate bars among other things
I can't think of what to put in a guys basket!
So Dissers do you have any ideas?!

For my own fiance I've knitted him a scarf, hat and mittens (he is from California and coming to Ottawa where I live for Christmas so I thought that'd be nice) and Im knitting all the men socks and putting baking and homemade chocolate bars into their baskets. But the Canadian men don't need scarves, hats and mittens etc... and I can think of personalized things for my own man but can't think of other homemade things for the rest of the men. I didn't think they'd be into bath bombs and candles.

So any ideas? :)

Food! If you have any knock out dessert recipes like banana bread, fudge, cookies etc. Do a nice tin filled with some favorites. My husbands family loves a specific type of cookie you can't really find here and my DH's grandma used to make them when she was alive. I made them each a couple of dozen a few years ago and put them in a cookie tin with a bow on the top. They loved them and honestly I think that went over better than anything since.

Not entirely homemade but the photo websites like snapfish, etc have options to make mugs and calendars. If they work in an office, maybe a paperweight, shaving soaps, if they cook or bbq, an apron, a frame...

Both good ideas! Men sure do love food...well mine does and the guys in the family they can really pound back the short bread on christmas !
Oh ill have to look into the calendars ... all the guys have little girls and love anything with pictures of their little girls!

we did a photo mug last year from snapfish and it was really cute. I have also seen calendars and they are really nice.

You can buy lotion base at Hobby Lobby or at www.wellingtonfragrance.com
By diluting the base you can make lotions and creams. I do this for my SILs and they love it. I buy jars and bottles but you could save jars and bottles or maybe ask your relatives who have babies to save baby food jars. One huge bonus is after making so many, my hands are like silk for weeks.

I just remembered another one:

take sugar-I use raw but you can use white- and add grape seed oil. You can also add a bit of fragrance oil ( only use cosmetic quality NEVER home fragrance oil as it can be poisonous)
Put this in a jar and voila- a spa hand/foot scrub.

I also say food. Roast some almonds with cinnamon, bake some cookies. All good. In fact, I say food for everyone!

If anyone is interested,I have a compilation of DIS recipes in a Christmas cookbook. PM me with your email and I'll forward it to you.

I don't know if this qualifies as homemade but what about a basket of shaving cream, razor blades, etc.? Dh prefers more practical presents so he would appreciate something like this. Otherwise books are always good for him.

I may have to do something like that Im just having a hard time with stuff for men lol... women love all the awesome fragrances and lotions you wonderful people have came up with but the guys are more of a non scented soap type.

I figured worse came to worse baking and a gift card for Tim Hortons ... I didn't realize how hard Homemade presents were haha
