I watched the christmas parade and I thought it was terrible. Was wondering if anyone else thought the same. Seemed like the focused too much on all the parks over the world. The floats seemed to be better in CA also. I also hated that Santa came on before it was actually over. Also did you notice the plugs they made, regis cd, toy story II dvd. I know this is marketing but they made it so obvious. And the entertainment was terrible. I am so glad I did not bother going to MK on 12/3 when they were taping. We avoided that park that day.

You're not alone. We taped it and watched it yesterday. It was awful. It was all just a plug for Disney. There was about 10 minutes worth of parade coverage. Also, Regis and Kelly couldn't be any faker if they were animated.

We TIVO'd it and I wait all day Sunday until all the family was gone so me and DD (who will be there for our first MVMCP next Dec) could snuggle up and watch it together.

Thank goodness for Fast Forward. This is the first time I have ever watched it--so I was wondering if they normally do all the plugs for the other parks.

Plus, DH thought Kelly had some personal issues that day. Did anyone else notice her eyes were all squinty?

I'm not too worried though. I got enough of the parade to know that it is full of Disney magic--you just have to be there to experience it for yourself.

Can't wait!

The parade is ALWAYS one long Disney commercial, nothing new there but it was spliced together terribly this year. It didn't flow at all. Seemed like a rush job.

Regardless, I'll continue to watch it every year to get my Disney fix!

Kelly was probably squinting because she's reading the queue cards and maybe they were too far away or the sun was in her eyes. She's really bad at the queue card reading!!

What was Santa doing in the parade anyway? In some places he might not have even left for his evening trip. In other places, he should have been resting back at the home with Mrs Claus.

I have to agree with the OP, very dissappointing. They really did a bad editing job. They always do alot of marketing though during the parade so that was normal, but it seemed very rushed. I mean Ryan Seacrest was going through every float in like 3 seconds. They should have picked one or 2 parks and thats it. The celebrities and performers as well were not the greatest either. I mean last year they did have Mariah Carey if I am not mistaken.

Still got my Pixie fix though. How interesting though that on the one float in the DL Parade A "real" Tinkerbell was all the way on top.......

I saw Tinkerbell also. At the end when they showed CA, they showed her going out and dancing with all the characters. Wish they would have her in FL. I am just glad I did not waste a day at MK to see them film. When you look where Regis and kelly are and where the performers are at the castle, you realize that Regis and kelly were not seeing the performance. They must have done a lot of voice overs. Hopefully next year they will just focus on USA.

I was there, and believe me..Regis and Kelly saw nothing of many of the performances. Those were all taped on Friday...at least the ones in front of Cinderella Castle. And with the parade stopping and starting every few minutes you know they aren't watching that either. They most likely tape later in the day on Sat. And it's all prescripted as far as I know...they are given the script. I really thought they came off as wooden this year. I hated it when they returned to Regis and Kelly commentary.

2 things I didn't like about parade (both of which hold for Disney overall):

1. Non-Disney type stuff. I don't like any kind of Rock (especially teeny-bopper rock) with my Disney. I don't want the rock singers or Raven Simone or that blond chick, whatever her name is. I want dreams-come-true and characters and princesses; you know, magical stuff.

2. I don't enjoy commercials. The thing I love about my DVR is that I get to fast-forward through them. Disney is constantly selling, even in the parks and the rooms. And there was lots of selling with the parade.

Hey, Disney -- you can't be Universal! You have to be Disney! That's what people want -- and bunches of it! If you continue selling and don't stop, you'll lose people! Once folks buy the magic, give it to them! Don't give them more commercials and sales pitches. Please.

...but this is just my $.02.

Well, here's what I think. I watched this parade with my family, one of which is my 27 year old brother, who said "What's with all the ****s?" I think that sums it up pretty well. Those girls, Vanessa Williams included, needed to get higher cut dresses. Very unDisney.

Also, what was with all the booty shaking from those Cheetah Girls? :earseek: Geez, I can't believe they market them toward the pre-teen crows. I am no prude, but again, I thought it was very unDisney.
