Christmas parade taping

Does anyone know how to participate as a spectator in the Christmas parade? We were there for the taping last year but could not get in to where the crowds were.

I believe the days of the taping, you must be there very early and invited by CM's to participate. Dressing in holiday theme clothes helps with the selection
process. I believe the taping is a Friday and Saturday, the first full weekend in December (5th and 6th).
