I am planning to visit Disneyland and DCA with my girls on November 6th and 7th. But now I hear holiday TV tapings may be taking place. How will this affect the parks? Thanks for any info you are able to share.

Thanks for the links. I have read what I can find with regard to past year's experiences but wondering if anyone has any information regarding the plan for this year? Is that for sure the weekend? Will there even be a parade taping? Will it affect Friday (11/6) as well? Will it be in both parks? Thanks for any information you may be able to share!

I'd keep your eye on the Christmas superthread as it typically has the news about holiday events first and the people there, especially Sherry, are very knowledgeable!

I've been that weekend a few times and will be there again this year and to me it doesn't really make a huge impact, other than on Main Street during the day when they are filming. If you just avoid Main street you will be fine!

But, I don't think it has even been determined yet if they will be taping the parade or not.

If they are going to tape anything it will be musical performances in front of the castle. They didn't tape any parade footage last year and why would they need to? It is the same parade.

Disney doesn't typically make this information available. When the parade dates have been posted there information has been provided by one of the dance teams.

They shoot dance performances on Main St. They may shoot some new things because of the 60th decorations.

But that is still not the Christmas Fantasy Parade.

Personally (and totally off subject) I would rather they just film the Christmas Parade (WDW or DL) and show it as is. The way they do it now is so choppy, I don't enjoy watching it, as much.

No one knows exactly what's happening yet, closetmickey.

In the past, the Christmas parade has been filmed for ABC's Christmas Day special, but, as disneychrista said, last year it was not. Last year they shot some Frozen-related footage and other random things.

While I fully expect that ABC will be there on that weekend in November to shoot something or another, it might not be the Christmas Fantasy Parade. Who knows? They may even film Paint the Night, but no one knows.

This year the auditions for the Christmas Fantasy Parade required that the performers must be available from 11/13/15 - 1/6/16 (which was previously mentioned in the Superthread that jammyjam25 referenced above). Normally the parade would soft open on the weekend before Veterans Day (a.k.a. parade filming weekend), but if the performers are required to be available starting 11/13, that implies to me that Disney is not planning on having the Christmas Fantasy Parade soft open this year. Instead, it seems like they are lining it up to begin right when the holiday season officially begins. There was also a rumor (which came from MiceAge) that Disney was trying to figure out how or if they could move the Christmas Fantasy Parade over to California Adventure this year. IF there is any truth to that rumor, and IF it is something that is being considered, that could be the reason for no soft open of the parade this time around.

As for what to expect in general -- if this were a normal parade filming/taping/shooting year -- I asked Nancy Johnson of DIS Unplugged to expand on it a bit (last year), and she gave me some info. In this post, scroll down to the green text in the quote block at the bottom, and that's Nancy's quote on crowds, etc., associated with the taping - http://www.disboards.com/threads/di...n-superthread-4.3215593/page-62#post-52142080.

This rumor makes no sense to me, since the reason for this is because of Paint the Night. There is no reason they could not have Christmas Fantasy for the "3pm" parade and then have PtN after dark.

I agree. That's what I am thinking will happen. I don't see any reason why the parade would have to move to DCA, or why there would be a reason to do that.. It would be just as easy to run the Christmas Fantasy Parade in the daytime -- maybe even twice a day on weekends -- and then Paint the Night at night.
