Christmas/New Years question - availability

Have been a DVC member for 8 years, but this will be our first trip during the holiday season. We're generally Thanksgiving travelers because I'm a teacher, but we're trying something different this time. Here's the problem....Not realizing how *%&% difficult it would be to get DVC for that time, I attempted to make a reservation at the end of February for 12/28 - 1/5. The first two days were not impossible...I got a 1 br. at the Boardwalk. I am currently waitlisted for a studio. Also was able to get two bedroom boardwalk view for 1/2-1-5. Here's the pain...nothing for the 30th, 31st, and 1st. Currently waitlised for a 2 br at the BWV. (I only need accommodations for 3 for the first two nights, then 5 for the last 6 nights) Now, here's the question......I am waitlisted for the BWV 2 br for those dates...(30th till 1st) Do I have any chance of getting this? I am currently on a cash reservation for POP for those nights as I didn't think the people who sweep the parks after hours would appreciate us sleeping on the benches. Should I waitlist somewhere else at the 7 month window? Where are my best chances? I really don't mind if I have to move around, but I would prefer to be at the BWV for the entire stay. If you truely do not mind moving, at the 7 mos mark have MS check availabilty at other DVC resorts and wait list if needed. With the size of SSR and OKW something should be available.

I agree with dcamdad. I think it is somewhat unlikely that something will open up at BWV over New Year's, but if you have the extra points, keep that waitlist request going.

I think your chances are very good at SSR and OKW. I wouldn't rule out BCV and AKV.

We waitlisted in May last year for NYE for a studio anywhere and it came through in August. There is hope. Good Luck

I was slightly encouraged when I was put on the waitlist for BWV. The CM said that he was 90% sure that it would come through for me since I was willing to take any 2 bedroom that came available at BWV. Should I call at the 7 month window for a 2br at OKW or SSR on a day to day basis? Can I add myself to the waitlist for those three days elsewhere? What I don't want to happen is to get the 30th at one place, the 31st at another, etc. I don't mind moving, but I need the days in chunks. I'd rather stay on cash at POP than do that.

I can tell you there are NO ROOMS available for AKV or BCV for Dec 30 & 31 either, as I've been waitlisted since the end of Feb as well. I called over the w/e for something else all together and asked about the rooms for those nights and was told the are currently NO DVC ROOMS AVAILABLE for either night at ANY RESORT (AKV, VWL, BCV, BWV, OKW, SSR) what-so-ever! Ya, just a little discouraging as this too will be our first Christmas->New Years stay IF the waitlist ever comes though.

Wow, no rooms at any DVC resort, EVERYONE must have made ressies at 11 mos since the 7 mos window is still over a month out.

I'll bet some of those ressies were made just in case they decide to go and there will be cancellations.

Or how many " Available for Rent" on the rent/trade board. I know everyone has their opinion about renting points or ressies and yes things do come up in life to change plans but this is the perfect arguement against renting

They can't have them on the DIS until sometime in Nov, so you'll have to look on Redweek or one of the other sites (like Ebay).

I just checked yesterday, and there are 1br villas available at SSR and somewhere else (I forget..) for the 30th and 31st. However, we need a 2br. I'm beginning to think that I'll just make a cash reservation and save my points for another time. Just found out that my daughter's band trip is to WDW next year...we never seem to need an excuse to go anyway. I was thinking about not spending too much $ and going with POP, but I'm afraid that I won't be satisfied there. Whenever we didn't use points we stayed at POR, but they don't have availability. Right now the two moderates that are available are Coronado and CBR. Any suggestions folks??? Keep in mind that I'm spoiled by my DVC. Thanks.
