Love the lights!! Ya know, I looked at your house and said "oh they must live in PA, looks like a PA house" then I looked at location and it said PA....
Georgeous!
C9's all the way. Those icicle lights finally got thrown out...they were a pain in the rear and with the wind they were always flipping over the top of the gutter. We like the white on the roof and then use color on the trees/bushes.
I did consider putting the Christmas lights up as I was taking the halloween lights down as half my extension cords are already out and in the right places. It was a geougous weekend and I really wanted to, but something just felt wrong about tossing Christmas lights up on a tree that still has most of its fall leaves. That, and my husband looked at me like I'm .
One of my first friends in college (at a tiny town in Western PA) was from Belleville, IL. My grandmother lives outside of St. Louis, MO. That friend ended up taking a teaching job at the school right behind my Grandma's house. What a small world.

I'm looking for some LED C7's with the clip that hang in the downward direction. All of the lights I've seen so far clip so the bulb is in the upward direction. If I clip them to the awning that way, I won't be able to see them from my porch, I'll have to walk out to the street to see them.

The big (traditional) ones, C9 I guess. In color and they must be straight. My next door neighbor has the large clear ones. We don't go nuts, but both of our houses look nice. I don't like the mini's or the ropes they are too sloppy looking for me.
I like mini lights.. And now that you mention it, this week there is going to be quite a warm-up in the weather for a few days (both here and at DD's).. I should suggest to my son-in-law that he put the lights up this week rather than waiting until it's freezing cold out..
DH and I almost bought a whole bunch of lights the other day but we're still house hunting and figure we should wait until we have a better idea of what lights will fit the house. *sniff*
