(Christmas) Lights, Decorations, Action…..A Post-Christmas PTR (update 12/22-page 42)

Kathy I think we need to take over Marv's thread he seems to have forgotten it !!!!:rotfl2:
Not forgotten Rosie, just too busy trying to keep up with the demands of my adoring public on all of their TRs and PTRs, I don't have time for my own! :sad2: Those lengthy responses take time, sap my creative juices, and leave me too spent for my own thread. I have to depend on my DISfriends like you and Kathy to return the favor and help ME out...........Heaven help me!!!!!

Okay, I sooo need to get back on finalizing some of our plans! Right now I'm looking at trying to change my work holidays from Wednesday and Thursday before Christmas (that Friday is a normal off day) to the Monday and Tuesday after. That would mean we could go to my Dad's house at the coast right after Christmas, and leave from there on Tuesday morning and head all the way to Orlando.

Need to check the park hours and see if we can squeeze in an extra evening in the parks that night!!! That would mean a short hop over to Kidani for our Wednesday check-in and we would have more time in Epcot before our dinner ADR. :thumbsup2 I was hoping we can catch a lot of the Santa's in WS on this trip, so that would certainly help the cause! :goodvibes

Maybe things will start picking up around here and I won't have to knock the dust off this PTR every time I come to do an update....... :rotfl:

well i guess that counts as an update.
:sad2:

actually that does sound like a good plan go with it.
:thumbsup2

Hey when Dan starts picking on me about updates, something HAS to be done, regardless of how small! :rotfl2:
actually that does sound like a good plan go with it. :thumbsup2
I actually just checked. The best option would probably be DHS that Tuesday evening. Not sure that would get me a whole lot since standby for most of the biggies would probably be real long, and FPs long gone by the time we could make it in the park! :confused3 Current calendar shows two F!, so maybe that would draw some of the crowds away while the shows are going on. We can at least do the Osborne Lights and probably some of the less popular rides and shows we don't always do.

Since rides will probably be a wash anyway, no matter where we go, I might plan for us to go in whichever park we choose and just stroll around and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, decorations, and take lots of pictures while I have the time! After driving most of the day, might be a good way to unwind for a while! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great plan, Marv. Although I would have said that in any event because it got you here to do a "mini update." :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Seriously, I like the plan. And I think I would do the Osborne lights that night.

I finally got to see the Osborne lights (actually lit) this trip. :cool1: We took a trip last Dec specifically to see and enjoy all the Christmas lights and decorations - and we didn't see the Osborne lights!:headache: That was a top priority on my list this year.

A couple years ago we did another Post-Christmas/New Years trip and the first night after arriving late we zipped into DHS for a couple hours and took in the Osborne Lights then. :thumbsup2 Unfortunately, I left the camera in the room so was only able to get a few pictures on my phone.:sad2: Might give me a better chance to take lots of pictures this time.

I'm leaning a little towards just heading into what will probably be a very busy MK that night though. Since the biggest attractions will probably be a wash anyway wherever we go, it might be really neat to just stroll down MS USA and take lots of pictures of the decorations and lights, looking for neat "windows" and searching for hidden Mickeys. Maybe even take the monorail to some of the resorts for more pictures. Free up some of that time later in the trip!

What???? I'm the only one who doesn't get a response to my repsonse to your post???? :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

I just had a brief look at Touringplans, I like that they have separate crowd levels for all the parks now. There recommendations don't always follow the least crowded parks. The bad news are that all the parks are going to be crowded, but I can tell you that MK isn't such a bad park either. Their recommendations are for someone who arrives at official park opening.

I'm sorry Kathy! Your words were so well written I couldn't see where there would be anything to add to that! :worship:

Things are getting DEEP get out the Goloushes !!!!:rotfl2:

Your plans sound great whichever one you decide to go with ... let me see could it be MK or DHS or then again DHS or MK!!!:goodvibes:rotfl2:

I have yet to make a Christmas time trip and my free trips end in October each year !!! They fear BAD weather in this neck of the woods !!!:scared1:

When we went right after Christmas two years ago, they pretty much said the same thing. That was the first time I actually bought into the idea of using touring plans, since they all pretty much paint the same picture about the busiest time of the year with huge crowds. :scared1:

I followed some really good plans, and to be honest with you we were never really impacted by the crowds, and did almost everything we set out to do. LIke you said, we did most things by being at rope drop and taking advantage of park opening. There will be ample opportunity to take advantage of that at each park after that first night.

With huge crowds during the days, we may not have access to FPs with a late arrival, but there are still ways to get some activities in regardless. DSs will probably take advantage of this (they have become quite savvy) but the personal goal for DW and I is to mainly relax and take in the sights and atmosphere this time around, so it will be a lot easier to make choices and go with the flow for us! :thumbsup2

Sounds like you need to fly south for the holidays!!!! I'm sure you can spoon up some trouble to get into.......... :rolleyes1

I think I was just trying to say the same: since you won't be there for rope drop it does not really matter! And I agree with what you said before about DHS: there might not be so much to do. I think MK sounds like a good plan to get some things done which are still enjoyable and what could be better for a first evening of a Chrismas Holiday than an evening enjoying the atmosphere of a decorated MK?? :santa:

That's what I was thinking! Although, when we did a similar first night two years ago, and went to DHS, we actually did Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Osborne Lights, Great Movie Ride and seems like one or two other things with little wait in a couple of hours. But like you said, hard to beat the atmosphere of MK for that first night for sure! :thumbsup2
