We will be in Chicago to visit family between Christmas and New Year's. We'll have two teenagers, girls age 17, with us. What places do you suggest that we try and take them to? We'll have a couple of days that will be strictly family time and a couple that will be for running around. We will be staying in the Schaumberg area.

Take the Metra train downtown - do some ice skating at Millenium Park. Then stroll up (north) Michigan Avenue. Stop in the shops that you want (disney), end up at Water Tower, take a carridge (sp) ride.

Let me know what type of foods you like and I'll give you some tips.

The 95th Floor of the Hancock Building (The Signature Room) offers a dinner buffet that is reasonable and the views can't be beat. I think they do lunch buffets as well, this way you can see the city view in the day light.

2 17 year old girls? In Schaumburg? WOODFIELD MALL FOR THE AFTER CHRISTMAS SALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! World of Disney store is there for you!:thumbsup2
Weather will be cold, but in the city, I suggest Navy Pier, then walk on over or catch a cab to the Water Tower area to do a little sightseeing, grab some ice cream at Ghiradhellis....any chance of catching a show, like Blue Man Group etc? they might like that , but tix are about $70 for the "interactive" seating
Sears Tower, Dicks last resort if they like abrasive humor
There is a one of those Medieval Times in Schaumburg, not sure if it's their thing or not...check out House of Blues too, they often have all ages shows/concerts
If they like arcade stuff Dave and Busters is in Schaumburg as well...tryin to think of indoor stuff!

I always enjoy visiting the Museum of Science and Industry at Christmas Time to see the Christmas around the World displays. Have a great time whatever you decide.

Ice skating in Millineum Park sounds like fun! Is it outside? We'd really like to do stuff that we can't do down here. That would definately be one of them. And ice cream at Ghiradhellis? They would be in heaven.

The girls go mostly for American and Tex Mex types of food. One of their favorite places to eat is at Chili's. They get chips and queso.

yes, skating is outside and skate rental is 7 or 8...but skating itself is free!
There are tons of restautrants everywhere, not picturing a Chilis by Milennium park, but that doesn't mean ther isn't something similar nearby. They will get a kick out of the "bean", or Cloudgate , it's real name. The holiday lights will be beautiful, and again, Navy Pier offers skating too, shopping, variety of things.

just dress for the weather, it can be beautiful in the city, but brutally cold with the lakefront winds.

just checked, looks like skate rental went up to $10......

There isn't a Chili's near the ice skating, but about a block south - 120 S. Michigan, Benningan's is scheduled to re-open this Monday.

Thanks! We're hoping that it snows some while we are there too. We don't get much snow here.
