We are doing our first Christmas trip this year and are wondering if restaurants etc are closed for holidays or do they stay open. We fly on Christmas Day and don't expect to be at Hotel till 5pmish so will naturally be looking for something to eat & drink later on. We are staying on I-Drive, will anything be open?

All restaurants are open Christmas Day in WDW, so I would imagine that most will be open on IDrive. They will be busy though.

It may be worth trying to find a restaurant you fancy on IDrive and try and ring to make a reservation.

I thought about doing that but am bit wary in case of any delays. I know it's unlikely on Christmas Day but thought perhaps things might take a bit longer as there will probably less staff working at airport. We have reservations for other times in holiday so are not that bothered if we have to 'wing it', worst case scenario is we can always do over priced room service. Was just wondering whether to take supply of pringles etc as DS (9) always says he is going to die if he goes more than 2 hours without food :rotfl:

Have you ever been in there it's vile, even the roaches give it a wide berth :rotfl2:

No, never had the preasure of going into that McDs :)

As you know there are plenty of places to eat around the Sandlake Road junction. We stayed a bit further south, and there is a very nice Tony Romas and Ponderosa.

I would book a table in the hotel at which you are staying. You will be tired from the travelling and driving around a strange area in the dark when you are tired may not be the best thing to do.

We were there for Christmas 2003 and quite a few restaurants were closed on Christmas Day night (!?!). Both Ponderosa and Bahama Breeze were shut.

hi lisa

we went to the b-line diner at the peabody hotel one year. we had not booked and just walked in it was empty- i think the staff were glad to have some custom- imho the americans make more of thanksgiving than xmas day itself.
