So Im at work and I got a text from my mom telling me that at some point overnight someone stole both of her inflatable snowmen. Surprisingly they left the train she has and a tree. The train is not inflatable but its much nicer than those snowmene, (if it were me I would have taken the train instead...lol.) She says when she gets home today shes gonna take the rest down and only leave the lights up.

I felt bad because we just got those this black friday.

What are people thinking ???

A similar thing happened to us a few years ago. One of our reindeer was missing and we found it later that day on the driveway of the vacant house next door. A few days later, someone vandalized our display. They tossed the reindeer on the roof and put the snowmen on our car (which scratched the paint because they were metal). It really ticked me off! I thought about taking the whole thing down, but instead I put it all back up. I put a note on the tree out front that said the police had been notified and would be doing extra patrols in the neighborhood (which was true). It also said that anyone witnessing a crime in progress should call 911. I put up a few signs that said "videotaping in progress." Of course, there was no videotaping, but perhaps the punks wouldn't be smart enough to know that. It didn't happen again and I'm glad I didn't let some idiots force me to take down my holiday display.

Yeah I told my mom not to take it down that I doubt they would be coming back for more with so many displays out..lol. But serioulsy i prob wouldnt take it down either cuz i like to enjoy it. She says she may put the train in the backyard for her to enjoy...lol

That seems to happen a lot in recent years. People just don't have respect for other peoples' property.

It's crazy. :sad2:

I'm not sure what people are thinking. :confused3 There was a story on the news where a hospital in the Miami area had their live poinsettias stolen. Video captured the theft, which happened over two days. In the video, you can see a woman pulling up on her bicycle to the landscaping display. Then, she proceeded to pull the plants out of the ground, put them in a bag and left. The next day, she came back for the rest. :sad2:

BTW, here is a link to the story and the video. http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/11/29/1950251/poinsettia-thief-caught-on-video.html

OP, your mom may want to label all her exterior decorations. I doubt that will stop a thief from taking them, but I've heard of similar stories where the stolen items were recovered because the owner wrote their address and name on them.
