The Virgin Gatwick 12.30 flight. Can't wait :Pinkbounc That wouldn't be the same as you would it?

Thank you for the concerns of my oven!!......I will be cooking the turkey on Xmas Eve...the gammon, beef and all the rest on Xmas day.
This is going to sound really sad but I inherited a 1970's hostess trolly from my Nanna.....its a god send and we spent many a meal praising it. Its out of the arc but I know its faithful and keep everything warm!!...and brings warm memories of xmas past!!

My Dad bought one for my Mum many Christmases ago. We were relentless in our mickey-taking, but I've used many times myself over recent years. I just make sure it goes back to my Mum's after Christmas!

We're having traditional turkey and trimmings (yum)

Thanks guys I'll use your menus at a checklist to make sure I've bought everything :)

Im guilty of buying everything ready done this year. Being 7 months pregnant, I cant face putting my hand up a turkey or peeling a mountain of veg!

Hence Xmas Dinner looks like this:

Starters - none. Learnt my lesson over the years, as we all pig out on prawns or pate and then have no room for the roast! This year we are having a small family dinner (just us and my mum) and more family over for a "high tea" where I will put out all those lovely prawns, cold meats, salads, pickles etc.

Turkey Crown, courtesy of M&S. Already bought and awaiting the hard task of being put in the oven exactly as is (even comes with its own roasting tin!)

Roast tatoes - loads as this is our family fave. Ready done Aunt Bessies Im afraid (they taste good though!).

Roasted Parsnips with a honey mustard glaze - another M&S buy.

Yorkshires - Aunt Bessies again!

Sprouts - ready done with chestnuts and I will put my own butter glaze on.

Brocolli at the kids request (ready prepared florets!!)

Stuffing - M&S ready done Sage & Onion with those little sausages wrapped in bacon as well.

Turkey Gravy (M&S again - oh the shame!!!)

Dessert - Trifle for me, Choccie ice cream for kids and a selection of mini Xmas puds and mince pies with brandy butter.

Drinks - Kumala Chardonnay Semillion (allowing myself one glass!) and Wolf Blass Shiraz. Plus Peach Schloer and appeltise for the kids.

Boxing day I have a selection of other meats, including gammon, beef and another turkey crown. Dh likes this with bubble and squeak!

I know I'm probably being really stupid here, but what's a Vegetarian Chicken Roast? Isn't it a contradiction in terms?

Have asked my vegetarian DP and he says that he is sure it is made from various combinations of soy protein, wheat gluten, and tofu.

So is it Chicken shaped then? We eat LOADS of veggie foods, but I've not seen this.

DP is un-sure. He has been a vegetarian for a number of years and seems to prefer vegetables in dishes to soya/tofu.

Well this thread has been a real treat to read ::yes:: by one of the yanks who had lasagna for Christmas dinner.

I have two questions, what is SWEDE and what exactly is the Bubble and Squeek that you will all be enjoying today?

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
