Christmas Dinner

I know this is really early, but my family is so excited and I know at that 90 day point we will be making our dinning reservations.

My family is doing Christmas at Disneyland this year. We have been many times, but always do the off season. Christmas is so stressful for me, so this year we decided to skip the extended family stuff and take a week long Christmas break at the GCH (our favorite hotel).

My question is about where to dine on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. My girls are 10 and 12 and not really interested in character dinning, but we do LOVE a good breakfast buffet. Our favorite spot is Blue Bayou, so we will be having at least one meal there on our trip.

I am hoping Christmas Day veterans can give us some pointers on "Holiday" dinning. Do any of the resturants offer traditional Holiday meals? I would love to have a Turkey dinner on Christmas Eve.

Most do a traditional Christmas Day buffet. We do Storytellers on Christmas Day.

I don't know of any that do a similar type dinner on Christmas Eve. We usually do a late lunch on Christmas Eve so we are in the park for the evening. My daughter (an adult) and I love watching the characters in their PJs.

Unless Christmas is an exception reservations are made 60 days out, not 90. Just fyi. We've done Christmas time at DLR but not Christmas Day, I hope you have a GREAT time!!! The hotels do special meals I believe, but as we haven't been there ON Christmas I don't know the exact details. Good luck and enjoy!

I called ST. They do have a Christmas theme to their buffet for a few days around Christmas.
I guess that will be convenient for us. I just wanted something a little nicer for Christmas Eve.
The VERY NICE CM that I spoke to from ST told me that most of the resturants offer a little different menu at Christmas. Good to know. Maybe we will try something new... That seems to be the theme for me this year.

You might try Napa Rose then. Or Carthay. They won't have a buffet, but I am sure they will have something fantastic.

We do Disneyland for Christmas through New Years each year. It is our tradition (done for the exact reason you are doing it.) We have our own tradition of Christmas Eve dinner (generally Outback, outside!) and Christmas breakfast is cooked in the hotel (we stay at Residence Inn) and then an early dinner at Storytellers (3-4pm.) They had an awesome turkey and roast beef buffet last year. If Disney does a buffet in the ballroom like they do for Mother;s day, that is where we will be this year...

Hi there!

You've gotten some great info from everyone so far. The question about Christmas Eve/Christmas Day meals come up a lot in our Christmas Superthread, and the answers are pretty consistent with what you've already been told. Storytellers is a good choice, and some of the restaurants like Carnation Cafe, Cafe Orleans, Goofy's Kitchen and Plaza Inn will add some special items to their menus for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Check with Steakhouse 55 too - maybe they have something extra.

Feel free to join us over in the Disneyland at Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread, if you haven't done so already. Lots of great info and fantastic photos. Even if you don't post anything in the thread, subscribe to it if you can as we discuss any kind of 'breaking news' about any aspect of the season when it comes in (for example, the recent confirmation of the holiday season's start and end dates was a discussion!). If there is a blog or a news item about special (new) holiday meals, you can bet we will be talking about it!

Doesn't Napa Rose also have some yummy hot chocolate concoction that they serve just for the holidays?

Thank you all so much. Napa Rose is a good idea. It's always been very peaceful in there in the past. If they do a "special menu" it should make for a beautiful Christmas dinner.

It's nice to hear someone understand my reasons to go away for Christmas. Unfortunatly our extended family is not as understanding.
