Christmas dinner - How much does it cost you?

Around $125

We're having prime rib, baked potatoes, green bean casserole, homemade rolls for 8 adults and chicken nuggets, fries and veggies and dip for the 6 children. Dessert is chocolate truffle pie and gingerbread eggnog trifle. This also includes soda, coffee and eggnog.

$60 for breakfast and dinner. It's just us two and there may be some guests for dinner later.

About $65 or so, the biggest cost was the two bottles of wine for the two of us!

There are just 6 of us (our little family of 4 plus my mom and one of my brothers). My round roast was $18 (5 lbs), all the veggies and sides, plus cinnamon rolls for breakfast are maybe $20. Buche de Noel from local bakery is $24, that is my "splurge" on Christmas dinner this year. We usually do not go all-out on Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving is when all the family is here and our grocery bill is sky-high!

cooking for 11 adults-i spent $250 today-i have some stuff on hand and we will knock out 3 or 4 20 to 60 dollar ( retail) bottles of wine. That covers just Christmas dinner-not breakfast or Christmas eve.

This is the first christmas i am hosting (in a more serious way) in my new house.
We have christmas eve (with appatizers only) and christmas dinner (filet mignion roast) it has costed me about 200.00$ so far. I went wayyyy over budget

I went grocery shopping tonight so it's fresh in my mind. I host Christmas Eve and we are having between 24-27 people. We are italian and do the traditional fish which includes shrimp (cocktail and fried), calamari, baccala salad, mussels marinara, scungilli, two types of pasta, tons of appetizers which include stuffed mushrooms, mini crab cakes, clam dip, and many others. Including liquor, I've spent close to $400. I don't ask anyone to bring anything because we go to my niece's the next day and I totally take it easy. Besides....they all have their own families and have enough to do themselves.

I did much of the prep work tonight after work and tomorrow I will do the real cooking. My kids (21, 23) help me tremendously because DH always works until 5-6-ish (mailman). It's a lot of money but as long as I can do it, I will. I would feel awful to not continue the tradition.
