My mom and I will be visiting FW on Saturday for dinner at Trail's End and to look around at the Christmas decorations. Any insight on what areas would be the best to see? We've never done this before and will probably be walking or using the internal bus service.

Your closest loops are the 100, 200, 400, and 700. Each in easy walking distance. I might suggest doing 100, 200, then 400. The entrance to 400 being right across from the entrance into the 100 and 200 loops. Go from the 400 loop over to the 700, then on to 600, 800, 900, etc. All this depends on the amount of walking you want to do. You can use the inernal bus routes to jump around but if you want to burn off some of those dinner calories, well, stick to Moe and Joe.

Great! Thanks so much for the info. We will be looking to walk off some if that buffet! One more question...Are the paths well lit enough that we can easily find our way around?

I would say yes for most part but the loops not so much but depending on the lights put up by campers. Might I suggest a head lamp just for safety sake.

Just returned from the Fort today. There are some gorgeous decorations out there. You may wish to consider the horse-drawn carriage ride. It will take you through some nicely decorated loops (800 is lovely). Worth the trip on the bus are spectacular decorations on the 1100, 1200, and 1800 loops. Enjoy!

Thank you for your advice! Do you take the bus to those loops and then get off and walk around?

1) Alas, any loop could be The Best or The Worst.
2) Decorations are up to the individual camper.
3) Some are extremely elaborate, and others are simple.
4) But, it will be hard to NOT find a campsite decorated in some manner or fashion.
5) One of my most favorite times of the year at The Fort.
6) You will have to walk the campsite "loops" as buses only stay on the main streets and do not go through the loops.

If you only stay on the bus, you wil only see a very SMALL portion of the decorated sites. There are many MANY beautiful sites. When we were there just a couple of weeks ago, we only scratched the surface of the loops and we had a golf cart. (albeit, we could have spent more time "Looping" but had other things on our agenda as well).

Definitely worth walking the loops or even taking a bike through them. As TRS stated.... your tastes are a factor of Best and Worst. Surly though you will find many things you will like (or even love).

Enjoy.
