Just daydreaming about next year's DVC visit home. When do the Christmas decorations go up in the resorts? Is it after Thanksgiving Day or during the week of Thanksgiving? DD's school is pushing for families to visit during the week of Thanksgiving to minimize time away from school, but we don't want to miss all of the decorations!!!

Getting close to my happy dance.. Less than 30 days to our first trip home:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We got there a couple of days after Thanksgiving last year and every thing was in full swing. I think they start putting it all up a few days (maybe a week) before Thanksgiving. I think you'll have a pretty good chance of getting to see them at Thanksgiving time. Hopefully someone else will give you a more definite answer. Have a good trip. A little warning, the parks will be really crowded around that time, so just be prepared.

For the past few years I arrive at WL the Friday before Thanksgiving and the decorations are up. I'll be there again this year only this time we'll be staying home!!

Last year the Christmas decorations were up by November 14th...one of the CM that works over at WCC posted on the WL FAQ Thread...she said Nov 12th when she was leaving work they had started putting up the trees. When we arrived November 14th the Lodge and Villas had been magically transformed.

Yep-

Nov.12. We arrived there last Nov. 11 and they were hauling in the decorations that evening. The next morning, they had the (enormous) tree and other decorations up. It looked really nice.

We went last year for the week that included Thanksgiving, and all the decorations were gorgeous. We had a ball just visiting all the resorts and checking them all out. This was a good plan as the parks (mostly the MK) were very busy all week. The Lodge had beautiful, traditional decorations and we hung out a lot in the lobby. We stayed at OKW and they had funky garlands with tropical fish. On our last day after checking out we went over to the Grand Floridian. They were roasting chestnuts and the zillions of red poinsettias were beautiful against the blue sky. The big gingerbread house in the lobby was also very cool. This is a great time to visit and despite the crowds (including the traffic heading north on the Florida Turnpike on Saturday!) we don't regret visiting during that week. enjoy!
