I was wondering when they start decorating the DVC resorts and the rest of the world. We're going 11/8-11/13 and would be thrilled if some are up?

Sorry, you will be about 2 weeks too early! You will however get to swim more than those who go in December! I believe the date for decorations is about November 25th give or take a day.

they might put some up before - but they don't light them or anything until the day after Thanksgiving - and without the lights I don't know if they noticeable.

Gee, I thought last fall people were posting that decorations in some of the resorts (BC in particular) starting going up around Nov 10 or 12. It seemed to be much earlier than previous years. Perhaps they weren't lit, however.

I know BCV was done within a day or two of the first week of Nov as well as a portion of BC. I'm not sure if the pecking order is the same every year, but based on 2002, you should find decorations somewhere.

We stayed at BWV in 2001 over the Veterans Day weekend - and they had put a lot of the garland and wreaths up in the lobby.

It was sort of strange to see it up that early - I wasn't "ready yet." :)

We stayed at BCV for Veterans Day in 2002, and I can't recall how much was done - sorry...

We recently returned from WDW. For the first time, we booked the Backstage Magic Tour. One stop on the 7-hour tour was at the Holiday Department. It was interesting to see how the trees and other decorations are stored and maintained. The work continues all year long to clean, repair, replace, and then store the items for the next year.

We were told that the decorating begins around November 1st or 2nd and each individual resort or park takes only 1 night to decorate, except, I believe, MK, which may take 2. Late each night the crews show up at selected sites and finish by morning. The crews then move on the next night to other sites. It must seem like Santa's elves have visited when resort guests wake up the following morning to find their resorts transformed!

From what I've read, decorating WL has turned into quite an affair. The guest will stay up all night just watching the lodge transform into Christmas. I would love to know a year in advance the exact nite they do this, because I would definitely plan on being there.

Its not true that Epcot or even WS is done in one night. That bridge thing they put is erected over several days. We often go at that time of year and I have seen stages of decorations many times.

The resorts are done first, OKW was pretty much done in a day. The stores areound WS are done pretty early also. It seems that most interiors are done pretty early.

You will definitely see some decoations if you look for them. Go to a few resorts and plan a WS day near the end of your stay, some(all?) WS shops will definitely be decorated.

I think they do it like this on purpose. No lights, no real exterior decorations until the night before and night of Thanksgiving...they do this pretty effectively, many people actually believe that all the decorations go up in one night.

A schedule for decorating would be real cool. I would spend a night at VWL just to stay up and see that.
