I am hearing that some of the DL lights and decorations for Christmas are already up. Is that true?

Are the lights lit at night?

Any pics would really be apprecited as we will be there in a couple of days.

Thanks

I can't wait for the update also! I am hearing the same thing. A lot of the decorations are slowly going up but not the trees (including the huge tree on Main Street, the one in DCA, the one in DTD and the ones in the three hotels). I don't know if the cool ToonTown tree is up yet either. I assume that some of the lights are up, BUT I don't think the whole 'icicle effect' that stretches from the Castle up Main Street is up yet, or I am certain someone would have reported back to us on DISboards about it. And, of course, IASWH, in all it's stunning glory, is not up yet. No snowfall on MS yet, either.

I can't wait to see it all! I mean, it was glorious and magical last year in December, but this year there will be the icicle effect on the Main Street shops and I can't wait to see that lit up at night! So exciting!

I don't know about lights in the parks, as I was only there during the day, but there are definitely some decorations up. The xmas ball garlands and hanging things are all over New Orleans Square, and there are garlands like that up in parts of DCA, too. I have pictures of those in my most recent trip report.

There are also funky cool spiky ball lights in the trees in DTD, and they are lit up (I left the parks and was walking through DTD as dusk started) once it starts getting dark.

The icicles and snow were up on the castle, but not on Main St. They were not on last night. There was no garland on Main St as of yesterday.

I did take a photo, but I have not uploaded the pix yet. Too tired from a week in the parks.:surfweb:

We just got home from a day at DL and left right at dark - no lights on, except the DTD deciduous tree enhancements (spiky colorful balls mentioned by PP).

The Christmas Parade is going to be really nice this year - the floats are gorgeous! Loved the dancing gingerbread men!

We were there today as well.

Wow can teenage girls scream for their HSM stars!!!

Got a few pictures of the Christmas-fide items so far Here's a picture of Main Street, the castle during daylight and after dark and the trees in DtD. As YMP's said, that's it atm.

There was some garland up around the Main Street Cinema, but they took it down after the Christmas Parade taping concluded.

I apologize for the little bit of blur. (We think it might be time for our little camera to be retired. :( ) However, I thought some might enjoy - and it's better than nothing, I think. :upsidedow

DH took some pics on wednesday and thursday. The lights were up on the castle, at least some of them, but were not lit up yet. Also didn't see much decoration along mainstreet. We can't wait to see the decorations up and operational in dec :)

Thanks all

I appreciate the info :thumbsup2

If anyone else has any pics please post !

I just saw a piece on the local news about how DLR plans all year long for their Christmas festivities, and the decorations include 700 Christmas trees which are placed around the entire resort (including all three hotels and DTD)!!! Where do they display 700 trees in DLR? Maybe they keep some 'extras' on standby in the warehouse in case something goes wrong with any of the ones they have out??

In any case, I was super excited to see this 3-minute piece on the news!!! I am sure that tomorrow, when the offical holiday season starts, there will be more local news stories with footage of the Main Street-Castle light show!!!:santa:

I read somewhere the decorations are supposed to be up by the 21st of November.

Yep. That's tomorrow, so I think more of my local SoCal news channels will have segments on the holiday stuff at DLR tomorrow since it is the start of the 'official' holiday season. Our local SoCal news stations always make a big deal when DLR adds a new ride or does something big!:santa: :goodvibes
