Merry Christmas Early, Disers!!

What are you making for Christmas day? I'm going to a crazy lady's house for Christmas Eve (I think of it as earning another angel wing) but Christmas day is just going to be my husband and I. I've done a full meal and I've done appetizers and I've done a brunch in the past.

What are you doing for the day? I'm wanting a few easy things that doesn't have me in the kitchen all day. I'm tending toward appetizers but not ready to commit. However, I have to go to the grocery store soon so I need to make a decision.

So share what ya'll are making and even put out some recipes and hopefully inspire me.

This is what I'm thinking:

spinach artichoke pull apart dippers
buffalo chicken dip cups
veggies and dip
ham and cheese mini quiche
fruit
baked potatoes and chili (unsure of this one)

we have PLENTY of dessert so no need for anything there

What are pull apart dippers?

Basically you make any dip, I'm making a spinach artichoke dip and you pour it over unbaked any kind of bread: cut up biscuit dough, strip crescent roll, pizza crust dough into little balls
Pour made dip over unbaked dough and bake it in the oven. It's gooey mess but good!

We're doing brunch for Christmas at my sister's - there will be bacon, eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, french toast casserole, breakfast pizza, pastries, rolls, cookies, fruit and on and on. For dinner, DH & I are going out for a nice steak dinner.

Your menu looks good and relatively easy to pull together. We had one of those snacky/appetizer days once - I started with vanilla crusted french toast, baked potato skins, soft pretzels, some sort of chicken dish and I don't remember. We noshed all day and I spent the whole day in the kitchen. Not fun.

sounds wonderful

Those pull apart dippers sounds great! I usually do a brunch then everyone is on their own to eat leftovers the rest of the day. I typically do a mix of breakfast and lunch foods. It will be challenging this year because my parents come two days later and I'm doing a similar brunch that day. I've been pinned some new recipes to try this year.

spiral ham
rolls
quiche
cheesy potatoes
fruit
veggies & dip
dip & crackers
french toast casserole
dessert
sometimes green bean casserole
strawberry pretzel salad
probably something in the crockpot - meatballs, chili, soup

We have a large gathering for christmas. I provide:

appetizers
Smoked salmon
Shrimp
Veggie tray
Dips(3-4 kinds)
Cheese and crackers

Dinner
Lasagna (MIL brings this)
Ham
Salad
Pretzel Jello salad
Augratin potatoes
Garlic herb potatoes
Veggies
Warm rolls

Desert
Variety of cheesecake
Mini eclairs
Carmel nut torte
French silk pie
Warm apple pie

Then usually the family who attend bring a variety of additions to share.

We do the snack meal on Christmas Eve-
Shrimp cocktail
Cranberry smokies in cranrazz sauce in a crock pot
cranberry smokey pigs in blankets
baked brie
charcuterie board
cookies

My mom is bringing a Chick fil A nugget tray

Christmas Day- Prime Rib meal at my moms with my sister and her family.
My contribution will be twice baked potatoes and caesar salad.

Christmas Day will just be me, DH and older DD. I bought a small, pre-sliced buffet ham, just over 2 pounds. Twice-baked potatoes, and a broccoli/cauliflower/cheese casserole. Maybe a salad. Cheesecake and Christmas cookies for dessert.

Younger DD is arriving on Sunday the 27th, and DH's son will come over, so that's when we're opening gifts and having our traditional Polish meal. Pierogis, golabki (stuffed cabbage rolls), kielbasa and sauerkraut. Store bought poppy-seed strudel for dessert, as well as any leftover cheesecake and cookies.

We are having leftovers from Christmas eve dinner:
Ham (honeybaked ham store)
scalloped potatoes
veggies (salad + whatever I feel like doing)
baked sweet potatoes
rolls
cheese/crackers
veggie platter/dip
pumpkin and pecan pies

I don't cook on Christmas. Did that for many years, and missed out on a lot of fun. We usually get Chinese from our favorite takeout place, but DH got a HBH gift card from work, and it paid for part of a ham. LOL

We're going overboard, of course...

Shrimp cocktail
Cheeses and crackers
Fancy olives and pickles
Spiral glazed ham
Sweet potato casserole
Sweet and sour red cabbage
Baked kielbasa, sauerkraut, and onions
Variety of pierogies
Snowflake rolls with pumpkin butter
Cranberry relish with bacon and fried onions
Balsamic glazed brussels sprouts with bacon
Variety of mini cheesecakes
Chocomint blossom cookies
Pizzelles
Candy pretzels and popcorn
Chocolate covered butter toffee almonds
"Jingle Blend" from Target

SIL's mom is bringing her cheesy vegetable casserole.
SIL is making apple pie and crockpot mac-and-cheese.
MIL is bringing whiskey bread pudding from a local restaurant.

We're doing lunch with my BF's son's mother and her husband. But we're keeping that simple and having stir fry.

Then we'll head to my mother's house. Not sure what all she's making beside the turkey, but we're bringing the apple pie.

Buffalo Chicken Dip
Crab Rangoon Dip
Cheese & Crackers
Vegetables & Dip
Shrimp Cocktail
Scallops Wrapped in Bacon
Cowboy Caviar
Fruit Salad
Ham
Scalloped Cheesy Potatoes in the crock pot
Squash (also in the crock pot)
Assortment of cookies/bars.

I make it a hot and cold buffet. Everyone can eat what they want when they want.

Its just hubby and me for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is always a snack buffet-shrimp, devilled eggs, stuffed potato skins, garlic bologna, cheeses, fruits and some type of dessert

For Christmas Dinner we are splurging. Just bought a beautiful 2 lb New York Strip Roast- going to have baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and a salad with it . And I got dark chocolate custard filled eclairs for dessert.

Stepdaughter and family are coming on the 27'th and we're doing the big ham dinner. Ham, mashed potatoes, carrots, swiss corn casserole, sautéed Brussels sprouts with bacon, rolls, and a chocolate silk pie (frozen, not doing any baking, lol)

Early Merry Christmas to all of my Dis Family!

Ugh ya'll making this difficult! I keep thinking just easy foods. We're going to have a dinner meal on Christmas Eve at the crazy lady's and we had two other holiday dinners last week.
Everyone's dinners sound great but after all the cooking and baking I've done lately I'm tired of my kitchen.
Hey I guess typing this all out helped me make the decision. Thanks, ya'll!

I crockpot lil weenies with bbq sauce, meatballs in spaghetti sauce. I make the little ham & cheese sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls, mini quiche...we graze all day. Being brought by family: coffee cake, monkey bread, potato salad, frittata & wings.

I got a 3 pound ham from Honey Baked, just DH and I so don't need much. Will make mashed potatoes and the usual. I still have two pies and one cake to make and homemade strawberry lemonade.

I think I will make just small stuff for NY. I like to snack sometimes than a whole meal.

We do our Polish Meal on Christmas Eve. I can't wait. I dream of my mother's Pierogis all year long! We also have borsht with kielbasa and potatoes, than my Mom makes babka and some type of seafood dish. I think this year it will be a scallop casserole. I cannot wait!!

We're doing something a little different than in years' past.

Tamales
Chili
Cornbread
Chips, queso, and guacamole
2 pies (I forget which kind)

We are Italian and for us that means eat eat eat for Christmas.
