If you are staying on property, you will want to be at your resort transportation 90 mins before Early Theme Park Entry begins.

If you are driving, you will want to arrive at your parking turnstiles a little more than 60 mins before ETPE begins. If you are too early you will be asked to turn around and return later.

It's all about arriving at transportation/parking turnstiles more than what time to be at the park entrance. Disney coordinates it so that guests using Disney transportation and those driving, all arrive at the park at approx. the same time. Some days Disney transportation arrives a couple of mins early. Other days it's guests who drive themselves.
